Did you know for The Tudors series, they thought that audiences would get confused by Henry VIII havng both a sister and a daughter named Mary, so they kind of combined Margaret and Mary into one character and CALLED her Princess Margaret, even though she went off to France to be queen, then married Charles Brandon, hated Anne Boleyn, then died (you know, all stuff MARY did)? Kind of silly. While the costumes and the setting was all very pretty, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers is hot, that shows made me so angry because I was constantly shouting, "THAT'S NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE!"Sarah @ All The Book Blog Names Are Takenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12507006809241347635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080051275665594538.post-51348676334474605292018-11-26T17:30:09.591-06:002018-11-26T17:30:09.591-06:00Yes, I know what you mean! I think Margaret Douglas is an interesting figure given how close she was to the throne, yet letting her son go off and marry Mary, Queen of Scots. AND THEN being surprised when it did not work out, mainly because he was a spoiled, stupid, whore.Sarah @ All The Book Blog Names Are Takenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12507006809241347635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080051275665594538.post-20032029628255596882018-11-26T11:17:53.475-06:002018-11-26T11:17:53.475-06:00I admit I am one of those who can't tell her M...I admit I am one of those who can't tell her Marys one from the other! The Forgotten Tudor Women might be a good book for me to study, though the 'forgotten' in its title does grate somewhatStephanie Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071958445763105060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080051275665594538.post-33927735596577707362018-11-25T23:47:06.251-06:002018-11-25T23:47:06.251-06:00Sorry to hear these weren't more useful, altho...Sorry to hear these weren't more useful, although it sounds like at least The Forgotten Tudor Women had some info that was helpful anyway, even if not overly so. I imagine it can be tricky knowing how to recommend something that is more than a general survey, but not super in depth for those in the know! With figures like Henry and his wives, there's so much documentation, you have to write them exactly from what we know of their thoughts and actions.Sarah @ All The Book Blog Names Are Takenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12507006809241347635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5080051275665594538.post-78521262822529970522018-11-24T06:15:15.980-06:002018-11-24T06:15:15.980-06:00I've read a few fiction books about these so c...I've read a few fiction books about these so called forgotten women which were entertaining. chucklesthescothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09423562114343636659noreply@blogger.com
