"It is very important that the children of Wayside School know the bell system."

There are no words to describe how truly ecstatic I am that this library hold finally came in. I adored these books as a child, and I read the first three books to Eleanor last year. She lamented that there were no more. I did too.

A few months ago this popped up on my radar and I nearly cried. Forty years after the first book was published, we now have book four. It is every bit as wonderful as the first three. It feels the same, and so far we've seen all the quirky characters we love so much.

Happy Reading!

    1. They're so great! And even as I read them to Eleanor (she's six) last year, they did not feel dated. I myself did not even realize the first book came out in 1978 until reading Sacher's note at the beginning of this book. This is definitely a must for fans of the first three books. Happy Reading!

    1. Yes! I didn't read Holes until I was a teacher, though I had seen bits and pieces of the movie. It is probably my favorite Sachar book outside of the Wayside School series.

  3. My first line is from a WWII book by Anne Greene: Angel With Steel Wings:
December 1943- Camp Davis, North Carolina
“Bad weather. Bad plane. Bad day. And I have a bad feeling.”

  4. "It is the summer of 1848. We are in New England. Phineas P Gage, twenty-five years old, construction foreman, is about to go from riches to rags. A century and a half later his downfall will still be quite meaningful".

    Descartes' Error by Antonio Damasio.

Today on my blog I’m sharing the first line from Unveiling the Past by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I’m currently reading Masquerade at Middlecrest Abbey by Abigail Wilson. It’s awesome!!! I’ll share a line from chapter 3 here.
“As with so many previous events in my life, my marriage proved the complete opposite of my dreams.”
Isn’t that a fantastic line? The novel is filled with lines like this. So good!
    Have a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ“š

    1. They are so wonderful and hilarious and book four did not disappoint. Eleanor and I finished it this afternoon and it was perfect. It felt just like all the others, and I never would have know the first book was published in 1978 if Sachar had not said so in the author's note. I definitely recommend picking this one up since you enjoyed the first three. Happy Reading!

    1. Oh my gosh, they are hilarious! There's Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Wayside School is Falling Down, Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger, then this one. There are actually also two activity books called Sideways Arithmetic from Wayside School and More Sideways Arithmetic from Wayside School. Those are so loopy and fun, and make sense in a funny way if you've read the books. I hope you do enjoy these with your kiddos, my girl is six and laughs hysterically at them. She wants to reread them constantly.

    1. It is such a fun series. The way it ended make me think this will be the final one and it ended on such a beautiful note that I would be okay with that.
