Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.
I've added a section to indicate if a book is from my TBR. Maybe that will shame me into focusing on the TBR because so far nothing else has worked 🤣

You have a bigger stack this week! I hope you enjoy them all. I also hope you find time to read them all :)
ReplyDeleteYes! we just got back from a two and a half week vacation at home with family and everything decided to come in while we were there, lol. I've read a couple and decided not to read some already, so my library stack is shrinking by A LOT. I only have a few left on hold and am getting through them pretty quickly, so this fall I can focus on ARCs again, and books I own.
DeleteI have that Ruth Ware book on my "want to read" list and hope to get to it soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to start it this week. She's so hit or miss for me.
Delete'Unlikeable Female Characters' looks interesting. I imagine it'll either be good or absolute trash!
ReplyDeleteSo.... Funny story.... I had my health test on Monday (passed!) so celebrated by picking up a few books. I picked up a few more (from the charity shop) on Wednesday food shopping.... So.... TEN in all. Most of them are non-fiction but I think you'll only find one or two of (possible) interest.
Fiction:
Half the World by Joe Abercrombie
The Safekeep by Yael Van Der Wouden
Non-Fiction:
Wanderers - A History of Women Walking by Kerri Andrews
A Poet Can Survive Everything But a Misprint by Oscar Wilde
The Illusionist - The True Story of the Man Who Fooled Hitler by Robert Hutton
Lost To the Sea - A Journey Around the Edges of Britain and Ireland by Lisa Woollett
Why We Die - The New Science of Ageing and Longevity by Venki Ramakrishnan
The Traitor of Arnhem by Robert Verkaik
Vertigo - The Rise and Fall of Weimar Germany by Harald Jahner
Paris '44 - The Shame and the Glory by Patrick Bishop
I'm only expecting ONE next week.... But I will be going to my Indie bookshop the week after... So, you might want to brace yourself for that...
you are the worst! lol. Glad you passed your health screening though. I ended up not reading the Female Characters one, after flipping through it and reading a few spots here and there. I didn't like the writing vibe.
DeleteThe nurse said "Not a problem and never will be" which was nice... Of course then I had to 'celebrate' with a 'few' books.... [lol]
DeleteThe Night Guest cover gives off a vibe, doesn't it. I hope you enjoy all your new reads.
ReplyDeleteHere is my StS https://stuckinbooks.com/2025/07/26/stacking-the-shelves-7-25-25/
It was quite an odd read with a totally unreliable narrator and I liked it a lot!
DeleteWhat a lovely library treasures you got there. Happy reading. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've managed a few already and so far, so good!
DeleteAn excellent haul! I found Unlikeable Female Characters a bit too... obvious? I don't know, I got a bit impatience with it. I liked the author's book on horror movies, though, even though I'm not a horror fan!
ReplyDeleteWe were out of town for two and a half weeks visiting family at home, and everything decided to come in while we were gone, lol. I ended up returning the Female Characters one, I didn't really like the vibe when I flipped through and kind of read passages here and there. Like you said, it seemed obvious. I may have to check out the horror book, I do love a good horror movie.
