Special Feature: Eleanor Reads! September Edition

It will come as a surprise to literally no one that Eleanor and I have both done a pretty solid amount of reading when school closed in March due to COVID-19. School has started now, so our reading might slow a bit but it will never stop.

Each month I will share the chapter books we've read in that period. We've been reading chapter books since before Kindergarten and her attention span as a four year old was definitely something to brag about. Eleanor was born a reader and that makes my heart so, so happy.

Do the kiddos in your life have an interest in any of these?

Happy Reading,
Eleanor and Sarah

    1. We most definitely did! She is really in ghosts right now, but also books written in diary formats. I love how eclectic her tastes are in books!

    2. She definitely takes after me. I have never known such a young child to love non-fiction so much, but it is what she has been surrounded by her whole life.

  2. The Haunted Library looks pretty good... i used to love Hardy Boy books; i wonder if they're still popular?

    1. I'm not sure - Eleanor loves Nancy Drew and for her birthday this past July I got her the first ten in the series of the original Nancy Drew series. I know Nancy also got the update treatment and there is a series of her and Bess and George as kids. I am not sure if the same happened for the Hardy Boys, but I don't see why not. I loved those as a kid, along with Nancy.

  3. This is such a cute little feature!!

My little girl (10 weeks) is also an Eleanor and I can't wait to start reading with her, such an important part of development and raising the next generation of bookworms <3

Lots of love to you and your Eleanor!

    1. Thank you, Jade! it came about because I am a teacher and suddenly in March I had more time on my hands when schools closed and we tried to figure out how to serve our kids without being in person. It meant a lot more reading time for Eleanor and I, and I decided to keep this feature going even as we are slowly returning to school.

I started reading to Eleanor when she was still a fetus. I read Where the Wild Things Are to her twice daily, and more on the weekends. When my mom and I brought her home from the hospital I started reading it to her one day while my mom was holding her - and wouldn't you know, she turned her head in the direction of my voice and didn't take her eyes off me the whole time I read it. She knew it! Reading is so, so important, like you said, and I am so glad that at seven, mine is a ginormous bookdragon now.

I love that you have an Eleanor also - how did you decide on that name?

Happy reading, and lots of love, thanks for coming by!
