    1. It was really good - a book told from the perspectives of psychopaths! You know me and my love of unreliable narrators. Except, they turned out to be pretty fucking reliable, lol. You'll like it a lot I think.

    1. Don't feel too proud, I forgot to add the Scots one and the Norman Conquest, lol. I was definitely tired when i put that post together.

  3. So many interesting books. I think I'd like the one about Russian History best.

    1. I really love early Russian history, like, back to the Rus and Kiev. I lose interest after a while, find it again when discussing the last of the Romanovs, and then I tap out for good.

    2. I know, not every epoch is for everyone. That's the same with the history of most countries, at least those that have been around for thousands of years. Have you ever read Russka by Edward Rutherfurd. It's fiction but based on the history of the country, one of his many great books.

    3. I have not. I just don't really have much of an interest in fiction.

    4. I thought you might not. And if fiction is not for you, there are plenty of non-fiction books about all sorts of subjects.

    5. Yep! I have had trouble finding books solely dedicated to the Kievan Rus' specifically, though I have not looked terribly hard given my current TBR. I find information about early early Russia when reading about Vikings, but those books tend to encompass the whole Viking world and not just these men and women specifically.

    6. I know what you are talking about. The history of a country isn't interesting all the time and we would like to read more about certain parts than others. I hope you'll find something about it. Good luck.

    7. Thank you! Once I start looking, I'm sure I will find something - I almost always do!

    8. I'm looking forward to your finds. I'm also very interested in Russia.

    9. Yes! And especially seeing how the whole of Europe really was so entwined, even 1000 years ago. Those Vikings really got around!

    10. I think most Europeans have some Viking among their ancestry.

    11. Oh yeah, for sure. It would almost be impossible not to have some little trace.

    12. I always wanted to do one of those genetic checks to see where my ancestors are from. Though, the last generations, as far as we could trace them, are more than boring, all from this area.

    13. I always thought my ancestry on my Grandpa's side was straight up German, but he did a 23AndMe test and we actually have a good chunk of others as well - including French, which makes me sad because I have spent a lot of time in my life making fun of France. We are descended from the House of Bourbon and share ancestors with Louis XIV. We also have Danish and a tiny spot of English.

    14. Hahaha, that is too funny. Well, I guess you will have to change your view of the world. Or just the French. LOL

One of my American colleagues once said, he was glad I liked the French because someone should. So, you are not alone.

    15. Oh yes, I have had to, a bit at least. Plus, given the fact that Eleanor of Aquitaine was Queen of France, and lived in the lands that now comprise most of the country, I have mellowed a lot toward France in the last nine years.

    1. Never Saw Me Coming was AWESOME. I love unreliable narrators and it turns out psychopaths are fantastic for that - even if they end up being more reliable than others. Good As Dead was pretty decent, too. Except the end was weird.

  5. Is Good As Dead any good? It's on my kindle but I've not started it yet.

    1. I didn't hate it. It was not my most favorite (which may not be the book's fault at all, since that was the same week I read 'Never Saw Me Coming' which was AMAZING!) If you still have it, I would give it a go.
