Top Ten Tuesday | Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Covers

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's topic is to honor Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday, which is today (or will be in an hour). The downside of reading non-fiction is that our covers don't tend to be pretty, so instead of finding covers of purple, green, and yellow, I found some titles that at least had those words in them on my TBR. Some I've read and some I've not, and some are treasures Eleanor and I enjoyed together.

Happy Reading!

Tackling the TBR Week 6: Feb 8 - Feb 14, 2021

I am now entering year three of Tackling the TBR. Slowly but surely I have made big strides in getting by TBR under control. When I first started in 2019, my TBR was topping out at over 5,000 books. I don't know that I will ever get below 500, but a #BookDragon can dream!

I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!

+++++++++++++++

Announcement: I have added a linky to this post and will do so for future Tackling the TBRs as well. A few people expressed interest in this in one of my 'goals' posts so I thought this would be an easy way for us to all connect. I post weekly, but feel free to do whatever works for you - weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, whatever!

The link will be open the entire week.

First Line Friday #121

First Line Friday is brought to you by Hoarding Books. Playing along is easy: open the book nearest you and share the first line. Then check out the link to see the other first lines posted this week.

"I wrote this book with enough rage to fuel a rocket."

I guess you could say this is the book that radicalized me. Mona Eltahawy is simply amazing. Her courage and convictions are to be admired. We can not be polite, because patriarchy, racism, and misogyny are not polite, as she says time and time again.

You can find my review of the book here and my podcast about it here.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think, and leave a link to your FLF so I can stop by to see what you've posted this week.

Announcement: Sarah's Book Nook

In all the chaos of everything happening in January, I completely forgot to announce that I am once again recording a monthly podcast for KhenCo. Last month I talked about my book goals for 2021 and this month I share MANY thoughts on The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls by Mona Eltahawy.

You can check out my review of the book here, and listen to the podcast here, when it is posted. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I am so excited to be doing this again. We all know I love to talk - especially about books, in any medium!

Happy Listening,
Sarah

First Line Friday #120

First Line Friday is brought to you by Hoarding Books. Playing along is easy: open the book nearest you and share the first line. Then check out the link to see the other first lines posted this week.

It's been a while since I have done one of these - since the end of July to be exact. I guess it's time to starting queueing up some posts again.

"When it comes to the streets, there's rules."

I fell so in love with Thomas' first book, The Hate U Give; I could not put it down. On the Come Up was fantastic as well and I am so glad to finally have her third book in my hands. I can not wait to see the story she crafts this time around, and I already know I will love it as much as I loved her first two.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think, and leave a link to your FLF so I can stop by to see what you've posted this week.

Happy Reading!
