Books From The Backlog #7

Books from the Backlog, hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books, is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your shelf unread.

Why did I add Elizabeth's Women: Friends, Rivals, and Foes Who Shaped the Virgin Queen to my TBR?

Blah blah, her life was so hard, blah blah. I love Tudor history but I absolutely can not stand Elizabeth. She was a spoiled, manipulative brat. So, mostly I added this to my list because I like reading about those rivals and foes especially.

Have you read this book, or is it on your TBR? If you've read it, would you recommend it to others?

  1. Never heard of it. But I like your reason for putting it on your list.

  2. Elizabeth was certainly selfish and manipulative. She decides not to marry so won't let any of her ladies marry? That is selfish, denying them the happy life of being a wife and mother. I also hated the nonsense that every man had to pretend to be in love with her or she'd sulk about it!

    1. YES! She was a spoiled, selfish, brat. And her whole thing with Dudley. Except he was no better, because he knew marrying Lettice Knollys would send her off the rails.

  3. I haven't read much about Elizabeth but I think that this book sounds really interesting. I hope you enjoy this one when you get the chance to read it, Sarah!

    1. Thank you, Carole! I am hoping to get to the books I own that I have featured from my backlog, once I finish up the last of my library holds.
