So Long, Summer!

I'm not crying, I swear,

Except I am, because Eleanor and I had a totally amazing summer and tonight it is coming to an end. Teacher work days start tomorrow, and my students return next Wednesday.

Eleanor starts school on Monday.

MONDAY.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I am going to work this weekend on getting posts prepped for the next few weeks because let me tell you the truest thing in the whole world:

"There is no tired like teacher-in-the-first-week-of-school tired."

Be well, friends. My schedule for the time-being (first few weeks/month of the year) will be to mainly visit/comment on the weekends. Please know that I am reading all your lovely words here and will be 'round to your blogs just as soon as I am able.

  1. I thought your summers hols started early. Our schools don't go back until the 1st week in September. Good Luck this year. I hope it's a smooth transition back to work!

    1. It has been so far, thank you! When I was growing up in MN, we started after Labor Day, but in Nebraska school starts earlier - but we also get out much earlier, that third week in May. It has to do with farming cycles and even though we live in a major city, some things never change.

    1. Thank you Chuckles! It's gone well so far. I am cautiously optimistic that my love of teaching will be reignited this year. Eleanor has mixed feelings about first grade so far - she is not ready for summer to be over!

  3. Wow, you start even earlier than Los Angeles. Good luck with your first week back.

    1. Thank you Judy, so far so good! growing up in MN, we always started after Labor Day, but then didn't get out until June. In Nebraska it probably still has to do with the farming time tables - despite the fact that Omaha is a major city and could change the school year if they wanted to.
