Tackling the TBR | Week 29: Aug 1 - Aug 7, 2019

I am desperately trying to get my TBR under control. I have a huge backlog of books and often end up reading new books that are not even on my list, instead of trying to whittle down the list that continues to balloon up on Goodreads. Chuckles had the idea first, and we are going to use this as a chance to encourage each other to get those books read instead of always grabbing new ones and thus never making a dent in the physical and digital stacks we already have. It will also give us a chance to take a good look at our lists and see if there are ones we are no longer interested in. We will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month.

Previous Week's TBR Total: 3,231

Books Added to TBR: no idea

Books Removed from TBR: no idea

Currently Reading: no idea

Books Read: no idea

Books DNF-ed: no idea

New TBR Total: 3,237

My numbers are all kinds of screwed up because Eleanor and I spent the last two weeks home in Minnesota and I did not keep track like I normally do. My numbers increased by six, but that is because I found a couple new books while browsing at the library lately. Pretty darn good for not really tallying anything.

  1. We're getting there Sarah! I can understand it being harder to keep track during a trip like that. I'm getting very close to my target of 1000 now and hope to get that done in the next week or two!

    1. That is awesome progress, I don't know if I will EVER get that low. But now that school has started and we are getting back into a routine, I am figuring out when my 'reading time' will be. Rock on, Chuckles!

  2. Since last week I have read 3. I am working on a book that has been on the TBR and on my physical shelves since 2010. It is long, dense but good. I might be reading it for a week! Stone Upon Stone by Polish author Wieslaw Mysliwski translated of course, because I don't know Polish.

    1. Polish would be an interesting language to learn, but I fear that part of my brain has dried up and died.

  3. I'm not officially taking part but I know that my TBR pile is growing since getting my ticket to a book signing - those things are DEADLY!!! Lol! ;-)

Keep working on your pile, Sarah x

    1. Feel free to join us any time! We started the first week in January and it has really helped me see how crazy and out of control my list was. It has also made me slow down and REALLY consider if I want to read a book or not.
