Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

  1. The '36 Olympics are interesting for a whole HOST of reasons. I'll look forward to your review of that.

A much more reasonable 5 for me this week (only expecting the ONE next week!). Mostly fiction so little to concern you (probably).

    Fiction:

Ghosts of Empire by George Mann
The Fine Art of Invisible Detection by Robert Goddard
We Are All the Same in the Dark by Julia Heaberlin

    Non-Fiction:

The Story of the British Isles in 100 Places by Neil Oliver
Empires of the Mind - The Colonial Past and the Politics of the Present by Robert Gildea

    1. I love how you always say probably, but hide it in parentheses because you're less sure than the word implies, lol. Oliver's book is one I am interested in.

I really enjoyed The Boys in the Boat overall, but there was A LOT of, practice sucked again for them/they were out of sync/they couldn't get themselves together/etc. I get that it was supposed to make the journey that much more remarkable but it kind of got tiring after a while. Even so, an absolute must-read I feel like for this interested in the Olympics that year.

    1. Yes, and finished it. We have A LOT to talk about because I just don't know how I feel about it.

  4. I added three new ones: Bewilderment, Cloud Cuckoo Land, and Harlem Shuffle. I can't wait to dig into them.

    1. That's what I thought too! I love the cover and the atmosphere of the small town was fantastic. But the ending...blech. I am very conflicted on it all.

  6. Winter reminds me of Christmas and Christmas of snow, gifts and book sales. As an Indie author, Christmas is the season for maximum sales and https://usbookreviews.com helped get reviews and visibility for my book and sales during peak season last year. This year they have an amazing, never before seen offer and I am thrilled to share the bounty with my author friends. Christmas is a season for sharing after all. :)
