Stacking the Shelves #25

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc. Never has my addiction been more obvious than when I am now keeping track of every single book I acquire.

I was SO CLOSE to not hauling ANY books this week. But we went to the library on Thursday and they had a cart FULL of books that had been pulled from circulation and were available for patrons to take. What kind of monster says no to free books?
(I had no cash on me at the time, but when I do I will be making a free-will donation for all of these lovelies - that way they can buy new books, AND pull more from circulation for me!)

The Scott Peterson one and Sybil Exposed are on my TBR at least, so that helps, right??

What did you add to your stash this week?

Happy Reading!

  1. Wow lots of interesting non- fiction, looks like. As Texas Goes and Slowness look promising to me...

  2. Oh, I liked "In Praise of Slowness". The chapter on medicine is a bit dodgy, though.

    Personally, I bought...
    - Seeing Further, a history of science and the Royal Society by Bill Bryson
    - How the Post Office Created America
    - How to Watch TV News
    and
    - The Moral Animal

  3. Just two for me (again) this week:

    Fiction:

    Sunburn by Laura Lippman

    Non-fiction:

Restless Revolutionaries - A History of Britain's Fight for a Republic by Clive Bloom.

  4. I'm curious about Blood Brother. I live in the Central Valley of California, where Scott Peterson also lived when he was convicted for murdering his pregnant wife. His girlfriend, Amber Frey, lived in the same city where I now live...so I was glued to books and movies during that time.

Enjoy! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. I've already finished it! This story was so heartbreaking. The book was okay, but the subtitle was unnecessary and kind of silly. It was not the worst book I have read about the case, but there are definitely better. It was a quick read too, but check it out from the library instead of buying it.

    1. I love coming across library books that have been pulled from circulation - and it is even better when they turn out to be on my To-Read list.

  7. Nice selection...I didn't know Mark Furhman had wrote a book-that could be interesting.

    1. He's actually written quite a few, about various big cases, I didn't know that either! I was really young when the murders happened, 11. I remember watching the Bronco 'chase' live, and thinking even then as an 11 year ol that innocent people don't try to run away. I also was not aware of how much blood evidence there really was, and how the possibility of planting evidence was nearly impossible. Seeing all of the evidence, and hearing about how terribly the prosecution bungled this whole thing, only makes me more certain of Simpson's guilt.
