I wonder what you will think about Mexican Gothic! I loved it but not everyone does.

DeleteI liked Mexican Gothic and the whole mushroom thing was a weird twist but I still dug the book. I think the title was terribly misleading, there was nothing especially Mexican about it except when it came to the mine. I have seen some very strong reactions to the book in both directions!
I read Mexican Gothic last year and was not among its many admirers, but to each his or her own when it comes to reading taste. Grover Cleveland is actually a WAY, WAY distant relative of mine on my mother's mother's side of the family. Maybe I should read the book!

DeleteI really liked Mexican Gothic, the whole mushroom thing was weird and unique and I thought it was a good twist. But the title is super misleading, there was nothing especially Mexican about the book and probably could have been set anywhere with the same class/society disparities as between English and Mexican societies.

ReplyDeleteIt was twisty and weird and I really liked it. The title is a bit misleading, nothing especially Mexican except the fact that the main character is Mexican and the story takes place in Mexico. I look forward to your review!

It was definitely funky and weird; I liked it a lot. The title is misleading I think, it is not especially Mexican, except for the story taking place in Mexico. That cover though - gorgeous!
