Eleanor Reads! April Edition

Each month Eleanor and I share the chapter books we've read in that period. We've been reading chapter books since before Kindergarten and her attention span as a four year old was definitely something to brag about. Eleanor was born a reader and that makes my heart so, so happy.

Read

Do the kiddos in your life have an interest in any of these?

Happy Reading,
Eleanor and Sarah

    1. I read the original series when I was in elementary school and I love that there is a younger version for Eleanor - though she will be on to the original series in no time I am sure.

  2. Looks like Nancy Drew is a favourite at the moment. Nice that she can have a series she loves.

    1. Yes! We have just about read every book in the younger series that we can find here. Last summer I gave her a boxed set of the first ten original mysteries so we will be on to those in no time.

    2. Interesting that there is a "younger" and an "older" series. I guess that really shows how popular she is.

    3. We found a series called Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew which is about Nancy, Bess, and George solving mysteries as third graders. This one is more recent, in the 2010s I think. There is also a series written in the 90s called the Nancy Drew Notebooks were she solves the mysteries herself. And there are graphic novels now as well, which Eleanor also enjoys.

    4. Lovely. Your remark about the third graders reminded me of an animated series my boys used to love, it was called "Recess". Does Eleanor know it? And if yes, does she like it?

    5. I don't think she does - though it is always possible she could have seen it at her dad's house. I'll ask her when I pick her up tomorrow. I vaguely recall possibly knowing of it though it might have been after I was grown. How old are your sons?

    6. It might not be running anymore though I don't see why not.

My sons will be 27 and 32 in August, so the could be Eleanor's dads. LOL

    7. I looked it up and it is the show I am thinking of, though I was starting high school when it first aired. I remember seeing reruns in college when I nannied for a young boy. I am not too much older than your oldest, 38. I don't act like it, I know, lol.

    8. I thought you might not be much older. I just checked, there are six seasons starting in 1997, so you must have been a teenager and not interested in primary school aged stories anymore. It was a cute series.

    9. Now that I see the dates, yes, I was in high school and college when it was on. So it was not reruns after all, but the run of the show itself. I bet Eleanor would like it anyway. Thanks!

    10. I'm sure she would. And they are nice stories where kids can learn good behaviour, as well. Not that Eleanor needs them but I know my boys loved all the stories.

    11. I'd much rather she watch something like this than nonsense on Youtube and Tiktok!

    12. Totally agree. And I'm sure you'll like it, as well. I know we did.

  3. Definitely being primed for a future in Law Enforcement... or possibly Ghost Hunting!
