Stacking the Shelves #227

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

My Library Treasures

Happy Reading!

    1. Word Perfect?! Is that your guess?? Because that is definitely the one I am interested in.

    2. Of course...! It's a really fun book to dip in and out of... and I do love 'odd' words or stories around the origins of phrases we use every day.

    3. I figured. I do love weird words and there are so many from the medieval vocab and renaissance that I would love to see come back into rotation.

    4. I used the word 'winnowing' in a report @ work. Oh, the trouble and confusion *that* caused... [lol]

    5. I can only imagine, lol. No doubt someone confused it with minnow and thought you were talking about fish lol

    6. 3 of my senior managers asked me to take it out. I refused. Then it was mentioned in a bigwig meeting as a word no one had heard of and a minion was sent away to look it up. My senior manager told her colleague sitting next to her that it was me. It made me SO proud!

    7. Omg why?? Theyw anted you to take it out because they didn't know what it meant? Idiots.

    8. Pretty much, yes. I think that they might have wanted not to 'embarrass' people higher up the food chain. I said that it was a learning opportunity for them. Maybe they thought I was being 'elitist'.....! [lol]

  2. These books look great! Are they horror novels, or mystery? Or another genre?

    1. The Vanishing is more Gothic-y mystery and Shadows isn't really horror but it is more than just YA thriller, there are lots of supernatural elements. Both decent reads!

  3. Two with spooky houses on the front - definitely giving a horror/thriller vibe. Hope you enjoy them!

  5. Someone else who got two books this week. I feel happy when I have a low number since I have so many books I'm still trying to read that I've already bought. But so many good books are calling my name.

    1. Agreed. And I am trying to focus on reviews again and slow down; no joke, I have hundreds of reviews waiting to be written. I've already whittled down the list of books I don't want to review, it is obscene.

  6. Looks like this week you were interested in books with big houses on the cover. LOL. They both look intriguing to me. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend. - Katie

    1. Lol, I did not even notice this about the covers until people started pointing it out. Both were deserving of the deliciously creepy covers, for sure!
