Top Ten Tuesday | Bookish Goals for 2023

I do a goals post each year on the first. You can see the original post HERE. There's a bit more detail in that post.

I have gotten more relaxed in my goals, especially last year and this year. I don't want this to ever feel like a job, because it is something fun that I love.

My goals are very simple, though I may decide to participate in challenges later. Who knows.

1. Read 250 books
2. Get my TBR below 2,000 books
3. Read more from my backlog
4. Write some reviews

What are your goals for 2023? Let me know!

Happy Reading
Sarah

  1. Great list. I like how simple it is, but how you have kept it measurable by stating the number of books you want to read and how you want your TBR to be below 2000. Good luck!

    1. I'm a special education teacher, so measurable goals are my life, lol. Thanks for coming by!

  2. Reading more of books you already own is appearing on so many lists today. It's on mine as well.

  4. I want to focus more on my physical TBR this year. Last year I was loaded down with new releases (my own fault for requesting so many from Netgalley!!), that I barely touched any books I owned.

    1. I was in that situation a couple years ago. My NetGalley percentage is now over 90%, and I reigned in my requesting. It was so tough! But then last year and into this year I went through a whole binge at the library. Good luck to us!

  6. I think my goals are similar to yours though I will never reach 250 books in a year but I definitely want to make my TBR pile smaller.

    1. I am contemplating lowering it to 200, so I can focus on my backlog. I go back and forth every day pretty much.

    2. Even though I'm a fast reader, I hardly ever reach a hundred. And it usually takes me longer to read non-fiction. So, I don't know how you do it.

    3. I definitely am able to read fiction a lot more quickly. So I bulk up on those in the summer usually. And literally all I do when Eleanor is at her father's house is read, to make time go faster until she gets to come home!

    4. That's totally understandable. I guess I have too many distractions here. Which is a good thing.

    5. And reading is the only distraction I ever want, because it does speed time up so quickly.

    6. Well, I love reading and do it in any free minute. But I also love the theatre or concerts and since I haven't had them for such a long time, I enjoy going to them as much as possible. And meeting friends and family.

    7. Oh for sure. I like all those things with Eleanor though - we are super excited for some great concerts this summer. And family is so far away, 5 hours by car, so we only get home a couple times a year.

    8. I know that problem, we had that our whole lives. Now my boys are even further away.

    9. I hate is so much. I love my home and my family more than anything. Unfortunately, if we were to move back there, then Eleanor's father would get her for the whole summer and that's not an option. She definitely does not want that and neither do I.

    10. So, I take it you live closer by Eleanor's father than by your family. Yes, that's sad.

    11. Yes, we both live in the city where she was born. I would love to move home, and be with our family. But Eleanor and I could never be apart for three months at a time. And it would be awful for my family too, since summertime is the best for travel.

  8. Good luck with these! #2 will be hard, but I bet you can do it. My friend Lenore from Celebrity Readers blog does a post on Fridays sometimes called Down the TBR that might work for you for this one. It's really fun to read.

    1. Thank you! I have been doing a 'Tackling the TBR' challenge, now on year five. I have come down from over I think 5 or 6 thousand. I will check out her blog, thank you!

    1. I really need to focus on reviews, I have slacked BIG TIME. My review list is over 400 because I like to torture myself.

  15. You know, your goals seem very manageable (I don't think I could pull off the 250 books myself) but the other three can all kind of go hand in hand with each other. Have a great week. - Katie

  16. Those sound like good goals. Mine goal is 100 books, but that's pretty much it. I'm not very good at goals.
