I've never thought about it like that! Is it weird that I enjoy what I read, even when it is sad/grim/depressing stuff? I guess I enjoy the way the stories are told, without enjoying the content itself?

ReplyDelete'Nocturnal Brain' is VERY good - especially if you have or know someone who has sleep related problems.
DeleteNocturnal Brain was really interesting. I recommend it, even if you don't have sleep issues yourself. But it is especially interesting if you do.
DeleteAs for Phantom Plague, I DNF-ed on page 25 when the author stated that Jane Seymour died after giving birth to Princess Elizabeth. That's such a glaring mistake that should not have gotten past any editor - especially when the author cited a website that mentioned Jane giving birth to Edward VI, and NEVER even touches on Elizabeth once. Shame too, because it was really interesting to start - went right in on Mercy Brown.
Oh, I would've DNF'd it at that point too! I mean.... DUH! Basic stuff people!!!
DeleteSO BASIC. I was so mad I almost threw the book. How does this get by an editor? Especially because the author specifically cited the webpage where she supposedly got the info, and it was immediately following the sentence about her dying after "giving birth to Elizabeth". Absolute garbage.
