Tackling the TBR | Week 21 | Jun 1 - Jun 7, 2023

Here we go!

This is year FIVE of Tackling the TBR and I finally have things sort-of under control. My ultimate goal is to get under 500 books, but I also have to be realistic - just think of all the books not even written yet that I will want to read. When I started this mess  I was at well over 5,000 books on the TBR, so to be where I am now is pretty incredible.

I will post on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and last day of the month.

  1. Quite a variety and I see some I would love to have on my TBR.

    1. If you end up reading any of them, let me know! Summer break is here so I might actually finish them all in the next two months

  2. So skip the Kelley armstrong...

I think I'm starting One of the Girls tonight. :)

    1. It was SO BORING. I truly did not even care if the girl murdered the principal or not, she was screaming about being watchd all the time, constant references to something violent that happend a couple months previously I guess to create tension between the main characters and especially the main girl and the boy she is clearly in love with even though they're not together (anymore?) I don't know. It was dumb and boring.

    2. Good to know. I like what I've read of Kelley Armstrong but that's mainly her City of the Lost (Rockton) series. Started One of the Girls and I'm only 5 chapters in and already trying to suss out who's BAD... :)

    3. One of the Girls is SOOOOO GOOD! I hope you love it. It is a trip. I can't wait until you're done so we can talk about it! I haven't read anything else by Armstrong and probably won't for a while.

    4. I'm going to read it this weekend. It's the first Clarke I've read since the Blue.

Armstrong is funny I like Rockton (the idea of a settlement in the Yukon where people go to hide) but it's live 5 books and not enough happens and now there's a spinoff? She hints at paranormal but it stays mostly grounded in realism, and I wanted a little more... supernatural?

    5. YAAAAY!!

I don't know any of her other work, and if I was given hints about paranormal, but nothing like that happened then I would not be happy at all.

  3. Forgive me if you've already been over this before, but could you give us an idea of what Currently Reading 14 books LOOKS like? Do you read them at random or do you read one chapter of each ever day or what exactly is the process like? And how much time for reading do you have in a day? If you've already explained it, feel free to just provide me with a link to that post. Thanks very much and congrats on whittling down your TBR as much as you have!!! Amazing!

    1. No worries, I don't mind - my 'Currently Reading' number is always big. I am a big mood reader, so I always have a lot of non-fiction going at once and I just settle down with whatever interests me at that exact moment. Fiction is different, because I do not read a lot of it. Whenever I get a Prime First Reads book I have to put it on this list right away or I forget about it. And chances are, I STILL forget about it. But fiction is super easy for me to plow through in a day, though I only truly read one of those at a time so I don't mix up characters/plots, etc.

Reading is how I de-stress (I am a special education teacher and each year beyond 2020 keeps winning the award for worst school year ever) so I devote at least an hour or two to it every day after my daughter goes to bed. I read a ton when she has to go to her father's house too, because it helps the time go by faster so it feels like she gets to come home sooner.

    2. Thank you! I always enjoy hearing about everyone's different reading methods, styles, whatever you want to call it.

    4. Lol, no problem, I knew what you meant! I feel the same way; it is interesting to me how people organize their reading lives and all the components.

  4. I'm posting this extra sentence because I forgot to click the Notify Me button and that's the only way to know if blogspot bloggers have replied to you. I forget to check that box all the time and never know if bloggers have replied or not. Sigh.
