Books From The Backlog #21

Books from the Backlog, hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books, is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your shelf unread.

I am featuring books in the order that they were added to my Goodreads To-Read shelf, so sometimes there will be a couple weeks in a row of books on the same topic.

Why did I add Nazi Games to my TBR?

Because I want to know how the whole world could fucking watch what Hitler was doing, preparing for, and not act.

Have you read this book, or is it somewhere on your TBR? If you've read it, would you recommend it to others?

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. It doesn't seem like it should have been able to happen. I hope you enjoy this one, Sarah!

    1. Right? It is not as though information wasn't getting out about political prisoners being rounded up and the first waves being sent to work camps. Hitler's views were well-known. It disgusts me that no one took him seriously.

    1. Infuriating, isn't it? It's not like people didn't know Hitler's views on the Jewish population. Jews were already restricted in so many ways, people really thought he would stop there and leave them be? Fucking terrible that no one took him seriously.

    1. Yes, and our pilots were flying with the RAF long before we joined in the war. But I will never stop wondering how many lives might have been saved had we not waited until we were attacked on our own soil to join. What if we would've gotten involved earlier, when Hitler went into Poland? Tying up their resources enough in the actual war effort would have left far less room in the budget for the expanding and building of the camps, transportation, so many things used to try and wipe out an entire group of innocent people.

  4. I read The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, bought earlier this year. Now that I have read and loved it, I can't wait to start The Labyrinth of the Spirits, the final book in the series bought at the same time.
