We Did It!

There's so much work ahead, the next three months are going to be the worst yet, and there are a lot of ugly things we have to confront and come to terms with, but this first step is huge.

For the first time since Tuesday, I can breathe a sight of relief. I could not stop refreshing the AP results for the last five days, keeping a running total on a Facebook post that became a beautiful dumping ground for all the amazing memes that have come out of this endless election. We needed the humor when things looked bad.

I knew in the end we needed Michigan, Wisconsin or Pennsylvania. I didn't dare hope we would get all three.

But we did.

And even though not only did trump get the same number of votes as before, he got about seven million more, it wasn't enough. He is done.

We are ready to rejoin the world again, if you will have us.

  1. I think that most of the world, your friends anyway, have just breathed a HUGE sigh of relief and gladly put away their contingency plans for a world without America. OF COURSE we'll have you! Welcome back to sanity!!! But: SORT YOUR COUNTRY OUT, OK? [lol] You gave us quite a scare there!!! [grin]

    1. It has moved me to tears seeing the outpouring of joy from our allies, and all the congratulations coming in from all over the world. Even more, I have loved watching video after video of spontaneous dance parties starting in the streets to celebrate the Biden/Harris victory. I am beyond elated that we have a way forward and that so much can possibly be undone.

Believe me, we have a lot of sorting out to do!!

    1. I was very upset Tuesday night, the actual election. I kept trying to remind myself that the majority of Biden/Harris supporters voted by mail because it was safer. Election Day ballots are counted before mail-in, provisional, absentee. I was a little more calm Wednesday, then a little happier Thursday, and big time happy Friday...then Saturday morning I screamed and jumped for joy when the race was finally called. I could not stop screaming and crying. It's such a relief.

    1. I am cautiously optimistic about the Senate. The run-offs in January in GA, we could win. I think Georgia has shown us where they stand, given how the tide turned for Biden/Harris there on Thursday.

  5. It was heartening and so poignant and gratifying to see the reaction of so many of our friends around the world. It gives one hope that much of the damage of the last four years can indeed be corrected.

    1. KICKING BETSY OUT IS THE SECOND GREATEST THING! Getting rid of trump of course is the first greatest thing. I too am not surprised that trump is being a big whiney man-baby and pretending he won. He is deranged.
