Tackling the TBR Week 21: June 1 - June 7, 2021

I am now entering year three of Tackling the TBR. Slowly but surely I have made big strides in getting by TBR under control. When I first started in 2019, my TBR was topping out at over 5,000 books. I don't know that I will ever get below 500, but a #BookDragon can dream!

I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!

  2. "The Coffin Ship" attracted my interest and the book itself even more than the title. Will have to put that on my wishlist. Sigh ...

    1. It's really great so far. It was published June 1st but is still active on NetGalley if you use that site.

    2. I don't use any e-reading appliances. Paper for me all the way. ;)

    3. I used to be that way 100%. I didn't want any kind of reading device and I always go for the hard copy first if it is available at the library. But after finding NetGalley and reading on my laptop for a few months, I gave in and bought my first Kindle. I do like being able to carry 600 books with me at one time!

    4. I just find reading on any device much harder than in a book. I have read a few classics when I needed them for a book club but I really, really didn't like it. I would love the idea of carrying around 600 books but what's the use if I can't take them in?

    5. No lie, I would be lost without my Kindle at this point. Especially when Eleanor and I make our bi-annual trips home to Minnesota in the summer and winter. Packing is already hard enough for us, lol

    6. I'd love to use a Kindle but reading too long on any screen increases my migraines, so I have to stick to the old fashioned way.

  3. Warrior looks really good! Also, you got the TBR number even lower! Woot!

    1. I know, I am so excited for that one! I love Anglo-Saxon England more than any other period, except for when my girls Boudicca and Eleanor of Aquitaine were storming about.

  4. I'm always amazed on how fast you can go through books!

    1. It helps that we are now on summer break, but the bulk of my reading gets done when Eleanor has to go to her father's house for a night or weekend. Reading makes the time go by fast until it is time to go pick her up.

    1. Malibu Rising was great! I didn't love it as much as I loved Evelyn Hugo or Daisy Jones, but I loved it a lot.

Wasn't it AWFUL?!?!? Was my review not SPOT ON?!?!

  6. I've only read one of hers but liked it. And oh my GOSH. I needed a shower afterward- I felt dirty! I have so many questions. Why didn't they gang up on Poppy at the end??? Why POPPY? That name. Why were they so mean to eVERYONE? Lauren was right. On and on... so many questions. You were completely right, though.

    1. I never understood that either. Why didn't Sloane and Ambrosia DO something instead of just stand there and be murdered and framed for murder? Are we supposed to interpret that as both of them suddenly growing a conscience and just accepting what was happening? Literally NOTHING in the book indicated Sloane especially would ever be the type of person to do an about-face like that.

      This book is TRASH.

    2. I think Sloane woulda whipped Poppy's ass frankly. And Amb TOOK the knife? *sputter* WTF She woulda took it and slid it into Poppy more like. I feel like Poppy would NOT have been the one to walk out of that room lol. So... no. And then sweet little Poppy's gonna raise Amb's kid? More WTF.

    3. RIGHT?!?! And Poppy has really been stalking Amb this whole time and got into her apartment to steal the knife? WTF!?!?! It's just so unbelievable. Sloane put up no fight, which is 100% impossible to believe. Amb can't think for herself, but agreed, she would not have just taken the knife. There was no redemption anywhere for anyone and everyone sucks and were terrible and I wish they all had died except Flora, who was the only good person in the whole fucking mess.
