I was very gratified by the professional review provided by 100bookreviews.club for my award-winning short story collection. His comments indicated that he “got” my book: what I was trying to portray and how the individual stories, while separate, were linked by a common thread. I was also pleased that he singled out the title story for more in-depth praise. I know that having a book receive a positive review from 100BookReviews is significant, and I appreciate not only the excellent choice of reviewer but also the professionalism and efficient turnaround demonstrated by your company.
ReplyDeleteThis is just getting silly. Still not your target audience. Stop your spammy nonsense.
DeleteI think *bots* are generally deaf to that sort of thing..... [grin] Presumably you can't block people/accounts?
DeleteI have not found a way to block certain people but there has to be, don't you think? I don't like the idea of locking my blog so only people who have subscribed or whatever can access it. That would severely limit conversations and interactions, especially from new readers from First Line Friday, Stacking the Shelves, etc. But this one in particular always goes on and on about getting reviews for her books, blah blah, and when I do mark her as spam, her comments still get through sometimes without being shipped to the spam folder. So weird, much like the other spam conversation we have been having recently.
DeleteLooks like a Jaime Jo Wright binge session. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you! She's fantastic!
DeleteI'm not familiar with Jaime Jo Wright - are those all a series? Genre? The covers look spooky so maybe horror? I'll have to look her up. Happy Reading.
ReplyDeleteShe's great, I am really loving her work so far. They are all stand alone novels. I guess technically they are Christian fiction because they are published by Bethany House, but they don't read that way, if that makes sense. The characters talk about God as He relates to what is happening in their lives, but they are in no way preachy or condescending at all. I am honestly not sure how to classify them really, but definitely not horror. There is some crime that has occurred, so there is the aura of a msytery to be solved and all her books so far are told in two different plots, with two women as lead characters separated by decades but who end up being connected as the full story is eventually revealed. There are paranormal aspects that sometimes end up not being paranormal at all. The atmosphere that Wright creates in each novel is practically a character itself. I am really loving these books and encourage you to check her out! I loved The Souls of Lost Lake, which was my first Wright book, but they've all been fantastic so far.
DeleteLooks like you are a Jaime Jo Wright fan. Hope you enjoy them (and the others).
ReplyDeleteThank you! I read The Souls of Lost Lake and knew I had to read everything else she has written. So far, so good. She's an incredibly talented writer.
DeleteLooks like some very spooky summer reads!
ReplyDeleteMall trip this week to pick up the latest Sharpe paperback, so.... Nothing to worry you though. Mostly fiction and the only non-fiction you'd be interested in I think you've already read in hardback (maybe).
Non-Fiction:
The Anglo-Saxons - A History of the Beginnings of England by Marc Morris
When the Lights Went Out - What Really Happened to Britain in the Seventies by Andy Beckett
And In The End - The Last Days of the Beatles by Ken McNab
Fiction:
Sharpe's Assassin by Bernard Cornwell
The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex
Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead
Keep the Aspidistra Flying by George Orwell
Future Crimes - Mysteries and Detection Through Time and Space edited by Mike Ashley
I really am loving Wright, she is a talented writer. Her books are kind of hard to classify. I guess technically they are Christian fiction, since they are published by Bethany House, but conversations about God are not preachy or condescending or even occurring all that often. There is a mystery, sometimes something paranormal-ish that may not be paranormal at all, and sometimes even a crime. The books are always told in two plots, with a woman as the lead character, and usually separated by decades. In the end their stories come together somehow. The books really are fantastic reads.
DeleteLucky for me, the only book I am interested in this week is the one by Marc Morris and it is already on my TBR!
Weird comment, but like every book you choose to read just has such great covers!
ReplyDeleteWright's covers are especially beautiful! And I am kind of a cover snob, who is partial to UK covers.
DeleteBoone is one I want to get, I saw that somewhere last month or whenever.
ReplyDeleteI haven't started it yet but I am looking forward to it big time!!
DeletePretty Dead Queens sounds good! Enjoy all your books!

It was a great read! I really liked it. Have you read The Ivies? That was a good one, too.
DeleteI've had some good library books recently too. The House of Chao and The Lioness were outstanding ones.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Thanks for coming by!
