Wow, a large haul this week. I have my eye on Listen For The Lie. Maybe one day I will find the time to read it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I am gearing up for Christmas break. We have school this week but my daughter has to be at her father's, so I will do nothing but read during the evenings. Then we head home for nine days, and I will be doing a lot of reading then, too!
DeleteThe Dino behaviour book looks potentially interesting......
ReplyDeleteThe last Mall trip of the year - looking for 2025 calendars - so, inevitably a few books came home with me too. All non-fiction (and FULL price!).
Ukraine - The Forging of a Nation by Yaroslav Hrytsak
War and Punishment - The Story of Russian Oppression and Ukrainian Resistance by Mikhail Zygar
Our Enemies Will Vanish - The Russian Invasion and Ukraine's War of Independence by Yaroslav Trofimov
I like it so far - the author is a paleontologist so it won't be for everyone, as it's fairly academic. But you and I will like it, mostly.
DeleteI think I would like the Ukraine ones - depending, of course, how much they focus on military operations.
Its quite a big leap from bones to behaviours though. I'm guessing that there's quite a lot of speculation and mapping known reptile/bird behaviours now onto possibly unknowable behaviours millions of years ago... Might be interesting to play with though.
DeleteThe first Ukraine book looks pure history. The last one is (I think) heavily military. The middle one I'm not sure about. Probably a bit of both. I'm 'planning' on reading some of the other Ukraine history books I have next year. I'd probably advise you to wait for my reviews before you go out and order them & waste your time.
I have hundreds of TBR books so can't show them all. I liked You Will Never Be Me and Darling Girls.
ReplyDeleteMy TBR is quite massive and unwieldy, but down to about 2,000 books. Darling Girls was really good; You Will Never Be Me was decent.
