State of the ARC #32

State of the ARC is a monthly feature hosted by Evelina at Avalinah's Books - and now me, too! I took over temporary hosting duties back in early 2020. A couple months ago Evelina asked if I would like to co-host and of course I said yes! If you are new to the meme, you can check out the guidelines HERE.

Links go to my review. The majority of the ARCs I receive are through NetGalley. Some have come from publicists, or were offered to me from a publisher who specifically approved me for it on NetGalley; I will always note in the review how I acquired the ARC.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

January was terrible in terms of reviews - I did none for ARCs. But I have at least FINISHED many, so that is a plus. Now I just have to get out of this reviewing slump and these numbers will look much better in February.

The Founding Fortunes - January, 2020
I have tried to read this book for over a year. it is not the book or the writing or anything of that nature. I have come to the conclusion that I have simply burned out on reading about the same men over and over. The book is fantastic and I highly recommend it, I just need a break from the Revolutionary War. I will come back to it in the future.

When I first started blogging my monthly State of the ARC I felt like I was drowning in ARCs. My main goal was to get my NetGalley feedback ratio above 80% and thanks to this meme, I slowly but surely clawed my way up. At my highest I was at 97%. I am currently at 92%.

How are you doing with your ARC goals? Let's talk ARCs!

Happy Reading
Sarah

  1. That Thames Mudlarking book looks like such an interesting read. I read your review of it the other day. We've occasionally spotted mudlarkers during our visits to London. They certainly can get muddy!

    1. It was a really fun read! I am determined to do this with Eleanor when we are finally able to visit - hopefully day-permits are not too out of our price-range!

    1. Yes!! It was such a fun collection of amazing finds. I want to do this with Eleanor whenever we finally get to visit the UK together (I've been, but she has not). You have to have a permit, and you can get them for a day so I am looking forward to this!

    1. It's definitely a good thing you didn't see what my lists looked like when I first started this meme!

    2. You should just be able to enter your info to link up, did it give you a message saying you couldn't?

    3. I know this is going to sound weird but I am a weirdo when it comes to odd and even numbers, so you get two responses :)

  5. Well done for finishing so many ARCs. Looks like an interesting mix. Fallible sounds good.

I no longer request ARCs as it just got too stressful for me to stick to a reading schedule. But it was fun to read new books before they were released.

    1. I am pretty terrible when it comes to the deadlines, hence why I started doing State of the ARC in the first place! I had so many and this really helped me at least get organized, even if I still miss deadlines. People keep giving me books anyway, so... :)

  6. some great looking books. i pretty much put my arcs or read to review books under the currently reading tab in goodreads. makes it easier for me to keep track of them. thanks for sharing

    1. I used that strategy too when I had so many and the list was totally out of control. That way I could see just how many ARCs I actually had in real-time, and it was absurd. Now I am mostly in the review-phase as you can see, and once again I have slowed down in clearing them. Oi.
