  3. Woah! Nice Horror Hotel looks great, and I have Brusatte's dino book on my tBR. All Your Twisted secrets I was bored with after one chapter, but if you like it I'll re- try! :)

Lock the Doors and 14 Ways look wild, will have to take a look.

    1. OMG All Your Twisted Secrets was TRASSSSHHHHHH! It was boring and then the big reveal was fucking stupid and I hated it. I will get that review up hopefully soon. Do not waste time retrying. It was garbage, your first assessment was 100% accurate.

14 Ways was surprisingly good. I loved how the main character evolved from her singular focus to seeing the bigger picture. Have not gotten to Lock the Doors yet, but soon!

    2. Oh good. I mean, that's not good that it sucked, but good that I don't have to go back and retry it. The first chapter bored the %^&* out of me gah.

    3. it was so dumb. I wish they all had died. Then the book would have been more interesting, because the boring characters would have been dead.

  4. Wow that's a LOT of library books!! How long do you get to keep them? I have 21 days and can renew older books, but nothing current - if there's someone else waiting, you can't renew (so sometimes I just return a few days late). I picked Quarry Girls for one of my First Reads also. Hope you have a terrific week and time to curl up with a good book.

    1. I go on binges sometimes, it is awful. BookRiot and our library Twitter account had some really great recs for the months so that's where most of these came from. Luckily, I read fiction pretty fast so most of these will get returned in the next two weeks. Our library does the same, you get books for 21 days and can renew three times if no one is waiting. They also completely did away with overdue fees, so that helps.

I am hoping Quarry Girls is a good one, I have had some DUDS lately from First Reads!

  5. I have no idea how you will finish the library books in the time given.

There are some good ideas there for Non-fiction November. The one about the Anglo-Saxons sound great.
    Happy Sunday.

    1. We get books for 21 days and can renew three times if no one is waiting. Plus they got rid of overdue fees. Fiction I read pretty fast though, so I will be done with all of those at least in the next week or two. I will definitely check out Non-Fiction November, I see it every year but never participate.

  6. Nice haul. IMPRESSIVE as always.

A pretty standard four from me this week:

    Non-fiction:

Dracula and Philosophy - Dying to Know edited by Nicolas Michaud and Janelle Potzsch

    Fiction:

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

    1. Why, thank you. Greg and I will get you to read some YA at some point ;)

Anything Dracula-related is going to catch my eye, can't wait to see what you think of it. I read The Paris Apartment a while back and it was okay for me, but not my fave of Foley's work. Have you read any of her others?

    2. Reading YA? Yeah, right.... [grin] Vampires & Philosophy... Hard for me to resist really. Haven't read any of Foley's stuff yet. But I do like buying books and then not reading them for 10 years, so.... Always good to have a few in a stack in case the world ends & I can't order any more. Actually I do think I should read some of my more modern contemporary novels... [muses]

    3. I really liked her book The Guest List. The Hunting Party was good too, so give them a try in ten years!

    4. I have both of those so there's some hope I might read them eventually.... Maybe *next* year?

    5. I personally liked The Guest List better, but either is a solid choice.

  7. Wow, that's a lot of books! It's been a long time since I have checked that many books out of the library at one time! I hope you enjoy them when you get a chance to read them.

    1. Thank you! Between BookRiot and our library Twitter account recommending books left and right lately, I went on a major bender and not only requested those books, but any others by the same author. I am OUT OF CONTROL! lol
