I am reviving this little feature after eight years. You might see a couple recycled from when I did this in 2016, but they were funny then and they are still funny now. Occasionally they will be more introspective or comforting. No matter what, they will be about reading and books.
My 'currently reading' shelf on Goodreads has 54 books on it.
Happy Reading!

I usually have 2 'on the go' at the same time - but they do know about each other.... So, that's totally legit!
ReplyDeleteAs long as they know about each other, it's okay.
DeleteI always double book. Or more triple and more book. I never read fewer than five books at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSame, obviously. My ADHD doesn't let me focus on one at a time. And I am a mood reader. Hence, ALLTHEBOOKS at once, lol
DeleteI love switching between the different books, makes them a lot more interesting.
DeleteI think so too. And sometimes I really just am not in the mood for a certain genre, even if I am loving the book.
DeleteThat's true. It also helps with bookclub books that don't really draw you in. That way, I manage to read them.
DeleteThat is the exact reason I avoid bookclubs. If I am not into a book, I just can't force myself to read it and I would end up not finishing it.
DeleteI have found many great books through my book clubs. And authors I might never have picked up. And I probably wouldn't be blogging if I hadn't been in book clubs. So, for me, it's definitely a win-win situation. And we never had a problem with someone not finishing a book if it wasn't for them.
DeleteIt would be hard for me to find a book club that would be of-interest to me though. I don't really care for general fiction and am pretty picky about the thrillers I read. And to find a book club that only reads medieval history/Roman Britain/Anglo-Saxons/Plantagenets/Tudors I think would be impossible.
DeleteWell, if you really would want a book club, I'd suggest you start your own. With those conditions.
DeleteNah, it would be fine to join one if there was one that I would be interested in, but I have run them before and it's not fun to be in charge.
DeleteSo have I and I totally understand. It's only worth the effort if the members appreciate it.
DeleteExactly. It was for a church book club and I even did question guides, but it just didn't work and it was annoying.
DeleteI once ran a very successful book club. All the members were eager to read and attend the meetings. But it was in an international society where people move. And the newer members grew younger and younger and the next generation was not as committed. And I was fed up with doing all the preparations and then nobody came and those who did hadn't read the book at all.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, it is not worth it to be in charge, at least for me. If I am putting the effort in but no one else is, it is so pointless. And people don't care. Like, why are you even in the book club if you're not going to do the things?
DeleteI'm afraid that's something that is more and more common, people want to enjoy stuff but not do anything for it. I have always enjoyed helping out with whatever I wanted to do or my children wanted to do but less and less people seem to be willing to do that.
DeleteYes! Apparently everything is just supposed to be easy peasy lemon squeezy and there is no effert involved.
