Top Ten Tuesday | Books I Read In One Sitting

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's topic is all about those books we just can't put down. It will surprise a lot of people that this list is going to be allllllll fiction for me - shocking, right? With non-fiction I really take my time, and take tons of notes for things I want to share in my reviews. Fiction is so easy to breeze through for me, that it rarely takes me longer than a couple uninterrupted hours to read through one of my select YA or adult thrillers - though a few non-thrillers also made the list, don't be too surprised.

Every book on this list is rated four or five stars and I loved them dearly. Some have been reviewed and others are still awaiting their turn. I have really made progress on that stupidly massive Upcoming Reviews list and am very excited about THAT.

There you have it, a whopping 30 books that I just could not put down. I think this might be a new record for me as to how many books I actually have on a list where the goal is ten.

Oops.

I even tried to shrink the list a little bit, and not include every book by certain authors. Just know that if it is written by Karen McManus, Courtney Summers, Tiffany D. Jackson, Brittney Morris, or Hannah Capin, you best believe I will drop everything and devour whatever any of them writes, as soon as possible.

Have you read any of these? If not and you're interested, books with links go to their review.

Happy Reading!
Sarah

    1. Sometimes I wish I could reread them all for the first time for that initial rush of joy/sadness/fury upon finishing them the first time!

  2. Clap When You Land is a one sitting read for sure, the audiobook is fantastic. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/romance-books-to-read-in-one-sitting/

  4. Same as you, I couldn't do just ten but I forced myself to stop. Although "Top Thirty Tuesday" is still TTT, will have to keep that in mind. ;)

    1. SEE! Still TTT, lol. It was actually 33 but I don't like odd numbers so I cut three that were not 4 or 5 star reads and only focused on the great ones.

    2. Haha, I totally understand. I always regard 33 as an unlucky number because of what happened in Germany back then.

    3. people think it's weird sometimes but oh well! I don't like uneven numbers and that's that, lol

    4. I like the numbers 3 and 9, 5 and 7 not so much. Weird, right?

      Delete
    5. It's okay though because 7 and 14 are my lucky numbers. 7 is the only odd number I like! It's the jersey number of my favorite quarterback of all-time.

      Delete
    6. I'm not really into unlucky or lucky numbers, we once even lived at number 13. LOL

      Delete
    7. Lol! I don't really think there are unlucky numbers either, even 13.

    8. I don't believe in a number bringing you luck. Or a black cat crossing the road being bad. Either something happens or it doesn't. We can try to work towards success, that's all.

      Delete
    9. Eh, I am not superstitious either. But I still have my lucky/favorite numbers.

    10. Favourite numbers is fine, as long as they don't dictate your life. You know the kind, don't leave the house on Friday the 13th etc.

    11. Eh, triskaidekaphobia and friggatriskaidekaphobia are real things. Maybe not a mental illness, but a real fear that people have.

      Delete
    12. Oh, I know. I don't mean those people. A phobia is different, of course. I saw a woman on TV who freaks out when she sees lots of little holes next to each other. Must be terrifying.

      Delete
    13. Right, I can't imagine how trapped people must feel who have these phobias. It must be exhausting.

      Delete
    14. It's not easy. I have a phobia myself, it must be terrible fif you suffer from something that could occur every day and every instant.

      Delete
    15. Right, there would be no escaping it. It would be so debilitating.

      Delete
    16. The science behind how our brains are wired never ceases to amaze me. How one person can end up with phobias or without.

      Delete
    17. Right. And some really weird ones at times. I mean the one with the holes, what does that even mean?

  5. Love it - 30! I have a bunch of those books on my list to read, I think Seven Husbands and Daisy Jones might get read this summer. Good list. My TTT: https://readingwithkat.wordpress.com/2021/07/20/top-ten-books-i-read-in-one-sitting/

    1. It was so hard to decide! After you read Seven Husbands you'll also have to read Malibu Rising, as it focuses on the children of one of Hugo's seven husbands. It's so good!

  6. That's funny...I generally breeze through nonfiction and go slowly through fiction!

    1. Non-fiction is my true love, so I take my time with those and really immerse myself in them. Fiction is just what I use as a palette cleanser after especially heavy non-fiction reads. Luckily I have read some really excellent fiction!!

  7. I've read One of Us Is Lying & Foul Is Fair, but both were actually fairly slow reads for me. I was really excited for both but they ended up disappointing me, I'm glad you enjoyed them more.

    1. I truly love them both so much - those two are probably my two most favorite on my whole list! It's so funny how people have such widely differing reactions to books.

  8. Great list of books! I finally read THUG this year, after trying when it was first released and having to stop because it was impacting my mental health. I loved it, and am so happy I gave it another shot.

When you get the chance, I hope you can check out my TTT post: https://readbakecreate.com/10-books-with-the-word-day/

    1. THUG was a very very hard read for me. At the time I was still teaching in our district's Behavior Skills Program and I saw so many of my students, some who I had known since Kindergarten, in that book and it was hard to get through it. I totally understand.

  9. You must be a fast reader. I read several of those books and it took me a lot more than one sitting!

    1. Omg SLAY IS AMAZING. I loved it so much. Clap When You Land is my fave Acevedo book. The Girl Least Likely was so cute - a wild departure from usual YA fair.

  11. I've read about ten of these and I agree, they're great page-turners! There are a few titles on here I've never heard of, so thanks for the heads-up. I'm always looking for engrossing thrillers.

    Happy TTT!

  12. Ooh, lots of great books! I forgot that I read "This is Not a Test" in one sitting... so that's not on my list this week. Great "TOP 30" list.

    1. It was SO HARD to even keep the list at 30, lol. I also read Please Remain Calm, the novella sequel to This is Not a Test in one sitting, but I already had two Courtney Summers books on the list so I had to skip that one.

  13. Interesting list, thanks for sharing! I have not read any of them. Here is my list: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/07/top-ten-tuesday-books-read-in-one.html

  14. Daisy Jones and The Six was phenomenal! I couldn't stop thinking about that book after I put it down, truly amazing.

Love your blog title too lol. Here's mine :) https://jawahirthebookworm.com/2021/07/19/ttt-books-you-can-read-in-one-day-or-one-setting/

    1. YES!! That was my first book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I loved Evelyn Hugo and Malibu Rising as well, but have not really connected with any of her other books.

The blog title came about because when I was setting up my blog, every cute or witty or funny name I tried was in use. I literally slammed my fists on my desks and said, "UGH! All the book blog names are taken!" and thus, she was born :)

  15. Great list! A few are already on my TBR pile but I am now adding a few more to my list.
