First Line Friday is a weekly feature and simple to do - grab the book nearest you and post the first line. Carrie hosts this over on her blog Reading is my Superpower.
A Roman Britain scrawls a curse on the thief who has run off with a pair of her gloves.
Happy Reading!

That's an interesting opening. I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy his books. I have also read his one called Alfred's Britain; Alfred is my fave king.
Delete"A few years ago, I helped push a beached humpback whale back out into the sea, only to witness it return and expire under its own weight on the shoreline."
ReplyDelete'Fathoms - The World in the Whale' by Rebecca Giggs.
That's so depressing :(
DeleteIt's a bit of an odd book. Quite depressing in parts but really interesting in others. Took me a while to get into it because of the writing style, but was worth the effort.
DeleteI don't think I want any more depressing things brought to my attention right now. Maybe later in the year.
DeleteLol, that's a great first line! I hope you enjoy it. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great read! I also like the author's book called Alfred's Britain.
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading The Holiday Stand-In by Kortney Keisel. It's really cute so far!
"I've never been in this position where doing the right thing feels wrong."
I hope you have a great weekend full of fun reading. 🙂📚
Thank you Nicole, you too!
DeleteThat does sound like an interesting first line. I like the cover too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
