The Versatile Blogger Award

Okay, so I am kind of a dolt.

Tonight as I was tidying up some things around the blog, I noticed one of my pages had an uneven number of comments. Uneven numbers bother me. I can't explain why. So I took a look and discovered a comment way back from APRIL 9TH by a fellow blogger, Nicole @ The Christian Fiction Girl, nominating me for this award! Nicole is such a gem and I enjoy her blog and reviews, though our genres do not typically overlap. She has great insights and we have bonded over the joys and pains of being public educators. I was surprised to see this, but grateful that Nicole took the time to nominate me. Thank you Nicole!

The Versatile Blogger Award was created to recognize blogs that are unique in their content, and have high quality writing and/or photography, as well as to "honor those bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or only now and then."

The Rules:
  • Thank the person who gave you this award and include a link to their blog
  • Nominate blogs (up to 15) that you've recently discovered or that you follow regularly
  • Share seven interesting things about yourself that people might not know
Seven Facts About Me

1. I played basketball from YEARS. When I was in 9th grade, one of the boys' varsity coaches told them and me that I had the best jump shot he'd ever seen.

2. I am an only child...and so is my daughter.

3. I have never broken a significant bone in my entire life...but I have broken those tiny, tiny bones in my baby toes more times than I can count - mostly because of fact #1

4. I don't like odd numbers, as you read up there

5. I am going into my 7th year as a teacher of Special Education, in a self-contained classroom for students in 3rd-5th grade who are verified as having an Emotional Disturbance. Often there are other diagnoses accompanying the ED, such as specific learning disabilities, ADHD, ODD, etc. My Bachelor's Degree is in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts. My Master's Degree is in Special Education, with endorsements in Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Mild/Moderate Disabilities

6. My favorite movies are The Godfather, Jurassic Park, and Newsies.

7. I can quote the entire series of F·R·I·E·N·D·S pretty much, and a couple of my obsessive besties and I have been known to have entire conversations just using quotes from the show.

My Nominees

Thank you again Nicole for the award!

Happy Reading
Sarah

  1. Heh, I remember this going around a few years back. Since I've done it once, I may just share some facts and break the rule about nominating other people. :)

    1. Works for me! I was only three months late on even knowing I had been nominated, lol.

  2. Thanks for tagging me! This will be fun. :)

That is so funny about FRIENDS! Can you believe I've never seen a full episode of the show? I know, don't laugh! I've seen plenty of snippets, but never a full episode, weirdly. Also I'm not super fond of odd numbers, either, other than 7 (for some reason I like 7).

    Jurassic Park is awesome *nods*

    1. You're welcome! I enjoy your blog, so thank YOU as well!

I can not believe you have never seen a full episode! I must make a list right now of all the episodes that you MUST watch...except they will be out of order then, so my best advice is simply to start from the very beginning :) Friends and Buffy are my two fave shows of all time, it is a complete tie because I love them both so much.

How strange is it that 7 is my lucky number, despite me dislike of other odd numbers! I did not mention that part because I thought it would be extra weird, but since you are admitting it, so am I. I think my preference for #7 comes from the fact that so many of my favorite football players have worn it - numero uno being John Elway. But otherwise no, I am not down with these odd numbers. They are weird.

Isn't it so cool that JP stands the test of time - even on VHS?? I have an old DVD/VHS combo, and for fun a couple years ago I watched JP on VHS. It STILL looks ten times better than some of these movies released to day.

    2. Aww that means a lot! And I know- crazy right?? Everyone loves Friends (and Buffy for that matter)- what is my deal? Same w/ Seinfeld though- so many people loved it and I NEVER saw an episode. But then I never watched much TV until I got Netflix (now I'm sorta making up for it???)

7 is just awesome. :) And yay for John Elway! I always liked him (and Dan Marino too, for whatever reason). I think I just liked the quarterbacks (and other players) who seemed like class acts. Sportsmanship is big for me because even though I'm not a HUGE sports fan, I know lotsa kids are and they look up to these people.

Jurassic Park DOES hold up. I mean I could watch that right now and it would not feel like a 25 yr old movie? I'm also fond of the sequel The Lost World even though I know it's not QUITE as beloved- but I think those two are the BOMB.

    3. I am with you on the Seinfeld thing. I think it is because Jerry Seinfeld's nasal voice bothered me? And I never found Kramer to be funny. I did enjoy the Soup Nazi though, but I only ever saw those clips really.

John Elway = G.O.A.T. I am a huge sports fan, college football and basketball, and pro football. Used to be crazy about pro basketball but all my faves are retired. Basically, Kevin Garnett is my all-time fave and once he was done...it just was not the same.

I like The Lost World also, but nothing compares to the first. The third one was horrible, which was sad because JP movies should never be awful. I have not seen any of the new ones, because it is completely absurd to me that there is such a thing as a 'velociraptor whisperer' *EYE ROLL*

    4. Oh my gosh right? A velociraptor whisperer? Who writes this stuff? And Chris Pratt? Please. I know he's popular, but no. I'll take Goldblum, regardless of how old he is. And yes 3 was terrible, pterosaurs (finally!) notwithstanding. I think the thing I like about The Lost World was the whole hunters vs dinosaurs sequence- that is amazing on the big screen, and as mad as it made me that they were hunting them, I loved seeing dinosaurs wrecking jeeps and whatnot. Good stuff. :) Also Goldblum. And that RIDICULOUS scene with the trailer hanging over the cliff *eye roll*

I don't watch as much pro football as I did, but being from Michigan I'm a huge Barry Sanders fan. Seriously watching his moves... it's amazing. He's definitely a GOAT!!!

      Seinfeld... yeah his voice. Next.

    5. And the funny thing is that I actually like Chris Pratt - but he will forever be Andy from Parks and Rec for me. I can't take him seriously as a raptor whisperer, which works out because IT IS NOT A THING. I do love Jeff Goldblum, and the original JP is pretty much the only JP in my eyes, but The Lost World likes to hang around, and I let it.

Sanders was good, these kids now have no idea.
