Books From The Backlog #46

Books from the Backlog, hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books, is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your shelf unread.

I am featuring books in the order that they were added to my Goodreads To-Read shelf, so sometimes there will be a couple weeks in a row of books on the same topic.

Why did I add Edward III: The Perfect King to my TBR?

Because he is a Plantagenet and the Plantagenets were bad-asses.

Bonus, I own this one!

Have you read this book, or is it somewhere on your TBR? If you've read it, would you recommend it to others?

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. I think I read an Ian Mortimer book a while back, a visit to the Middle Ages written from a time traveller perspective which sounds a bit naff I know, but was actually really informative and engaging. I particularly remember him talking about the sounds and smells one would encounter upon entering a Medieval town (mostly eughhh on both counts!).

    1. Yes! I really enjoy his books, his level of details is fantastic. The Elizabethan England one is great also.

    1. Badassery...I feel like this word needs to be used more often. Thank you for returning it to my vocabulary. I'd like to think I would have been a badass warrior, but being female and all would have been an issue. *Sigh*

  4. Once again, I know nothing about this historical figure but it is always fun to read about bad-asses :)

  5. I've heard good things about Ian Mortimer's books. And the way you describe this one makes me want to read it. Who doesn't like reading about a bad-ass?

    1. I really like his books, and am looking forward to this one. If you have a chance, check out his time traveller's guides to medieval and Elizabethan England. They're great reads.
