First Line Friday is a weekly feature and simple to do - grab the book nearest you and post the first line. Carrie hosts this over on her blog Reading is my Superpower.
At the risk of sounding like an absolute twenty-first-century cliche...it all started with a podcast.
Happy Reading!
Sarah
Interesting...! Looking forward to your review.
ReplyDelete"It is cool in the tunnels, not cold as it was outside. And dark, very dark. The air is almost still, but not quite - there's a trace of movement that scuffs the leaves that lie in low drifts along the edges where wall meets floor. Perhaps it's this that gives me the unnerving impression of not being entirely alone."
Islands of Abandonment - Life in the Post-Human Landscape' by Cal Flyn
I really liked it a lot but like Ethan said below, there were points where the technical descriptions got a bit much to follow.
DeleteI liked Islands of Abandonment, I imagine you will too.
I did *really* like it. I've added her previous book about the colonisation of Australia and her ancestors involvement in it. Apparently much generational guilt ensues......
DeleteShould make for a good read. Australia is not terribly interesting to me though, I don't know why.
DeleteI enjoyed this one, though it did get a little bogged down in the technical descriptions.
ReplyDeleteSame! The subject is so deeply fascinating to me. But my brain can't quite follow the technical aspects sometimes. But I'll still read any book I can get my hands on about forensics.
