That opening gives off a vibe. Sounds like an interesting read.
ReplyDeleteIt's great. Licence is a great historian.
DeleteNice. Evocative
ReplyDeleteRight?
Delete"I sat transfixed by a sea littered with a million fragments of ice, all rising and falling in time with the slow roll of the waves."
ReplyDelete'Spying on Whales - The Past, Present and Future of the World's Largest Animals' by Nick Pyenson.
How many more whale books do you have coming down the line??
DeleteThree in total - so one more after that one. You should be safe though with my next 'deep dive' - it's on the Battle of Britain... [grin]
DeleteThank God! Keep reading the military stuff for a while, lol
DeleteI would definitely have to read more after that!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great read, I've read a lot of Licence's books.
DeleteInteresting first line! I hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, you also!
DeleteHappy Saturday! 😀
ReplyDeleteThere is no way I would have survived living in Tudor England. I need soap and running water every day. But would I feel that way if I was just born into it? God knows what He's doing putting us when He puts us. 🤣
I’m just beginning While the City Sleeps by Elizabeth Camden. I’ve only read chapters 1 & 2 so far, but they’re very pull-the-reader-in kind of chapters.
“Keeping the forces of darkness and corruption at bay was a never-ending battle, but Jonathan would pay any price to keep his city safe.”
I hope you have an excellent weekend! 😀📚
Oh for sure!! No matter how much I think I want to meet Eleanor of Aquitaine, I can not even stress enough how horrible it would have been to live in that time period. God definitely kept us where we belong, lol.
