  2. So.... As it didn't rain for two whole (non-consecutive) days recently I've been shopping - in town (to my Indie bookshop) and elsewhere, plus I had an Amazon delivery. But not to worry *too* much it only amounted to 8 books and I think you only might like 2-3 of them. They're all non-fiction:

Allah's Mountains - The Battle for Chechnya by Sebastian Smith
What a Fish Knows - The Inner Lives of our Underwater Cousins by Jonathan Balcombe
No One Round Here Reads Tolstoy - Memoirs of a Working Class Reader by Mark Hodkinson
Sweet Dreams - The Story of the New Romantics by Dylan Jones
The Struggle for Sea Power - The Royal Navy Vs The World, 1775-1782 by Sam Willis
Teenage - The Creation of Youth, 1875-1945 by John Savage
The Young H G Wells - Changing the World by Claire Tomalin
Cleopatra - The Queen Who Challenged Rome and Conquered Eternity by Alberto Angela

    3. YES!! Cleo and Teenage. Except then I realized I had already DNF-ed the Cleo one, so now I may take a look at Sweet Dreams. It's like we've been doing this for years, lol

  6. I'm always so curious about books which try to pick apart old mysteries like the identity of Jack the Ripper. Hope it's a good one!

    1. Same! Jack, and the Princes in the Tower are the two that most haunt me, no matter how much I read. I want to know SO badly, but we never will and it kills me!!
