Hooray for a TTT that I can participate in! It has been a little bit since there has been a topic I can make work for my non-fiction treasures and boy, do I have some good ones on the list this week!
If you are unfamiliar with Top Ten Tuesday, it is a weekly meme started years ago by The Broke and the Bookish. Tons of bloggers participate each week and it is always a lot of fun to take a look at what others come up with. It is also a good way to connect with those who share similar reading tastes.
This week's theme is Top Ten Unique Book Titles. I have selected some fun ones that amuse me, some that are salacious, and those that cover more serious subjects and deserve attention. They are not listed in any particular order. Leave a comment about my choices and let me know what you think!
Happy Reading!
Sarah
1. Empire of Mud: The Secret History of Washington, D.C.
2. The Black Hand: The Epic War Between a Brilliant Detective and the Deadliest Secret Society in American History
3. Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder, and the Battle for Modern New Orleans
4. The Red Bandanna: A Life. A Choice. A Legacy.
5. The Lost King of England: The East European Adventures of Edward the Exile
6. The Year 1000: What Life Was Like at the Turn of the First Millennium
7. The Unreformed Martin Luther: A Serious (and Not So Serious) Look at the Man Behind the Myths
8. 102 Minutes: The Unforgettable Story of the Fight to Survive Inside the Twin Towers
9. Quinsey Wolfe's Glass Vault/The Bride of Glass
(I know this is cheating a little, putting two books in one entry but I like the series and damn, aren't those covers beautiful?)
10. Blue on Blue: An Insider's Story of Good Cops Catching Bad Cops
11. Murder Over a Girl: Justice, Gender, Junior High
12. Met Her on a Mountain: A Forty-Year Quest to Solve the Appalachian Cold-Case Murder of Nancy Morgan
13. The Prisoner in His Palace: Saddam Hussein, His American Guards, and What History Leaves Unsaid
Interesting list! I haven't read much about these books, but I will be looking up some of them.;)

Hi Amanda, thanks for coming by. I'm glad you found something of interest!
DeleteOoo, that 'Glass' duo looks interesting! Funnily enough I just picked up one of Candace's other books (Hearts are like Balloons) which is on my list this week. :)
ReplyDeleteI am IN LOVE with those covers. Fiction is not normally my thing, but the story line was so unique and I ended up liking them quite a bit. I have also read Hearts Are Like Balloons, which I liked as well. Candace is pretty neat :)
DeleteGood to know 'Balloons' is a good read. I'm really curious about it - and now may have to pick up this duo, too. :)
DeleteThanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Sarah.
It is, I liked it. Have a tissue or two handy. The only thing that I did not like was the viewpoint in which it was told, but that is my criticism of every book I have ever read that is in first person present tense. I think it is because I have read so much non-fiction, it is weird for me to be puts inside a character's head.
DeleteI enjoy your blog, thanks for visiting here as well :)
I think Gllas of Vault is also on my TBR list? I don't know the others.
ReplyDeleteThe Glass Vault duo are pretty neat, definitely a break from what I usually read.
DeleteI don't read a lot of non fiction, but this list has certainly intrigued me! :-)
ReplyDeleteNon-fiction is my JAM! I have tons of recommendations if you ever decide to jump in :)
DeleteWow, you really read many non-fiction. I can't even imagine reading so many non-fictions. great list though. these titles sound interesting :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I loved your blog name :D
My TTT: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2017/10/top-ten-tuesday-6-top-ten-unique-book-titles/
Thank you! When I was first setting up my blog, every cute/witty/funny name I tried was taken. I was getting frustrated and in a huff I literally said, "UGH! All the book blog names are taken!" And thus, my blog was born.
DeleteI love non-fiction. It is rare for me to read fiction anymore, especially when the books are based on people I love who actually existed. But now and then something catches me interest - there were so many more to add to the list, this easily could have been thirty books!
Wow, that's a large amount of non-fiction :) Good luck!
DeleteThank you!
DeleteI agree! I aswell like the covers of Quinsey Wolfe's Glass Vault/The Bride of Glass. I haven't read the series, I have to admit never heard of these books before, but now I want to know more about them.
ReplyDeleteHey Nina, thank you for coming by. I hope you find one or ten you really like! Non-fiction is my thing, so I am always happy to give recommendations and similar titles.
DeleteNF has so many great titles, especially with those subheads! http://mwgerard.com/top-ten-tuesday-unique-book-names/
ReplyDeleteRight?! Half the time the sub title is even better than the title!
DeleteEmpire of Mud...wonder if there will be a new sequel? So much is happening in DC every day. Some of those title are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHey Barb, thanks for coming by. I shudder to think what the sequel might be called. Maybe 'Atomic Winter: The End of Life as We Know It". The antics in DC right now are appalling and terrifying.
DeleteI hope you find some titles you like, and I am always happy to give more recommendations!
ReplyDeleteThe Year 1000 sounds like a very interesting book. I've added it to my TBR list. Thanks for talking about it.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I really liked it, it was one of my favorite reads from last year. Whenever you get around to, come back and have a chat!
DeleteI don't tend to read non fic very often, but you definitely have some interesting titles here!

I'm glad you found something of interest, thank you for coming by. I LOVE non-fiction, so I will always have recommendations!
DeleteHaha, the title of your blog is the best title ever. The books are pretty awesome, too.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks AJ! It was born out of frustration that every word combination I tried when first setting up my blog was already in use. I literally said out loud , "UGH! All the book blog names are taken!" Boom. Named.
DeleteI hope you found some titles of interest, all of the ones I listed I found to be pretty good. This list could have gone on for quite a while.
