I enjoyed this book, even though I was completely and 100% in over my head. I can not adequately explain anything here without having to go back and look at the book for reference.
You might wonder why, then, am I bothering to write a review? I am doing so because there are people who love this subject like I do, and will understand it better than I do. I don't mean that it is written so academically that you will only understand it if you are an expert. I mean that having a solid science foundation, which I do not have, will aid you in connecting, understanding, and explaining the concepts. I love learning about space and our universe, so I am glad I read it; just don't ask me to explain anything.
I did an astronomy course for home study and it was so complex that I thought my head was going to explode!
ReplyDeleteHave you studied Quantum Mechanics? That *does* make your head explode!!! [lol]
DeleteI'll have none of any of it, thank you!! lol
DeleteBut still, it was an interesting read. I think you would like it, CK.
DeleteI'm *trying* to read more Science these days but seem focused on Biology more than anything else. My next 2 are on Sleep & Migraines. After that lots on Thinking and then Genetics.... I'll see if I can fit some Physics/Cosmology in there *somewhere*!
DeleteOoooh, I want to know about the sleep and migraines! I have been on medication for a couple years now for atypical migraines and I hate being on meds. My doctor believes they are stress and anxiety induced, and so the meds are regulating pretty well for the most part. Even so, I would like to be off of them at some point.
DeleteI tried to read Stephen Hawkings famous book (can't remember the title right now, something about a history of time) and it was too hard for me. But I love novels that include science. I don't even mind when they go into details I can't quite grasp because the story will usually show what it is all about. I am trying to think of a novel that included black holes.
ReplyDeleteI keep adding and removing Hawkings' book from my TBR. I think I want to read it only to say that I have read it. But truthfully, I know I will not understand most of it and I will get bored and skim. I wish I had a brain made for science, so I could understand it all better!
