DeleteYeah, sorry about the whole Resistance recommendation thing.... [grin] I enjoyed the Kurlansky '1968' book so I'd be interested to see your views. A seminal year all round although I have no clear memory of it.... Just so you know [gulp] I'm, erm... starting to develop a more focused interest in Anglo-Saxon England..... [grin]

DeleteI enjoyed The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I am curious about The Haunted History in America. Does it cover the whole country or is it regional?
ReplyDeleteHer story is so frustrating and sad and infuriating. Her family deserves so much better than what they've been given. Henrietta deserves so much more.
DeleteIt was broken down by state and discussed a few locations for each. Not nearly as in-depth on certain locations as I would have liked and left out some key info on places I have been or in general know a lot about. Wasn't a bad read, just could have been a bit better.
Lots of good nonfiction books! I really need to read Henrietta Lacks. Everybody keeps recommending it to me.

ReplyDeleteThey discussed a couple locations in each state and it was fine, but not terribly in-depth. I get that is kind of hard when covering the entire country, but for locations I have been to or in general know a lot about, it was lacking in some places. Even so, those interested in paranormal reads will still find value in it.
DeleteGood grief! You are going to have to set out a couple of hours for reading every day here! But it's a good haul. The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks is still on my TBR and I really need to read it. Haunted Histories can only be a fun read. Keep us posted!

Pretty much! I am a teacher and we are on summer break. Plus I have been given the gift of speed-reading, so I get through books pretty quickly. My daughter and I can read for hours together or our own books. And reading/reviewing/blogging is what I do to help make the time go by faster when she has to be at her father's house.
