I think THAT should keep my going till I revisit the Indie shop for my birthday in April.
To be fair, this is almost a month's worth of books, lol. King Arthur is going on my TBR: I can never resist a book on Arthur. My library has The End is Always Near so I will be picking it up today when I go this afternoon.
DeleteWell, actually that's just two weeks worth. The stack was getting too unstable so I scattered it into smaller stacks amongst my other books. Glad I only added two to your list! I hope that both of you are doing as well as can be expected. *Hugs*.

DeleteWe are doing okay, and are more able to talk about Jackie without crying, though we both have moments when crying is the only thing that helps. Lots of hugs and snuggles and reading, of course. One week until Spring Break for both of us, and we can have a whole week to do whatever we want with no demands on our time.
Good to know that you're both starting to heal. It takes time (as do all things). As trite as it sounds as long as you have memories of her she's still with you in a way.
DeleteYes! It does not sound trite at all, it's so true. We look at pictures of Jackie all the time, and talk about our favorite memories. Some things really trip Eleanor up, like she thinks about how with Spring coming, she won't get to go on bike rides with Jackie, or play volleyball or soccer in the backyard. Those things are still hard and will be for a while. But we have moved into the phase where we can smile and cry at the same time thinking of her.
DeleteI've read all those Tana French books and loved every one. I'm sure you will, too. And I liked Gone Girl as well. You've got a lot of good reading ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteI like them so far, and hope to finish another one or two this weekend. I ended up DNF-ing Gone Girl. Maybe I waited to long before getting around to it, and have read so many similar thrillers since it came out? Not sure, but it was a no for me!
DeleteYou are reading my mind with the Rory Power. I was just thinking last night that I liked Wilder Girls and wanted to read more of her, and now today I see her on your list. I've always been kinda curious about the Dublin mysteries by French too...
ReplyDeleteBurn was unique and I liked it, I did not see where it was going at all and usually that annoys me because how can a reader possibly hope to have a clue if it is something so unusual? But I think what made it work for me is that, like Wilder Girls, you know something is amiss from the start, something really unexplainable. I think you'll like it.

This is about a month's worth of books for me, as we had a sudden loss in our family and I deal with adverse situations by reading, reading, reading. Our library allows patrons to check out up to 40 books at a time, sometimes one or two more if they like you :)
