The trembling clerk clothed in the rumpled livery of Master Kingston thrust the gilded coffer into my hands.
This is the third book from my dear friend Adrienne Dillard and I adore her and her books. I highly recommend all of them!

Interesting beginning. I'd keep reading to see where things go.
ReplyDeleteI've got a historical mystery for my Friday post this week: http://carstairsconsiders.blogspot.com/2022/08/august-5ths-friday-post.html
It's lovely and I am really enjoying it. Adrienne is a wonderful author.
DeleteMy first line is from Crossfire by Lynette Eason:
ReplyDeleteFBI Special Agent Julianna Jameson glanced at the alert on her phone. “Hostage situation in progress.” she murmured, reading the text aloud.
Thank you for sharing your line!
DeleteI am sharing from The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip today. I love the cover of this one and hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy! It's a wonderful read, I am loving it!
DeleteAnother historical *fiction*? Quite a surprise from you..... [grin]
ReplyDeleteMy first line: "Rose Morley was an excited young lady as with her father and grandfather and grandfather's servant she reached the air station at Victoria. For the first time in her life she was going to fly!" The 12.30 From Croydon by Freeman Wills Crofts
I KNOW! But Adrienne is such a lovely author and I have enjoyed all of her books immensely. I always know she will be as historically accurate as possible, because we share a disdain for authors who have no idea what the heck they're talking about when it comes to our Tudors <3
DeleteSounds like a good opening!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great read! Adrienne is a fantastic author.
DeleteI'd read it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I posted this morning, The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip was my current read. As of the end of my lunch break today, I've finished it and posted my review. Stop by the blog to see both posts! https://www.theplainspokenpen.com
I hope you do give it a try! Adrienne is a fantastic author and maks sure her work is as historically accurate as possible.
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Raising Kids Who Care by Susy Lee.
"In a Harvard University study, a massive 96 percent of parents said they wanted to raise ethical, caring children."
Hope you have a lovely weekend. 😀❤️📚
