First Line Friday #206

First Line Friday is a weekly feature and simple to do - grab the book nearest you and post the first line. Carrie hosts this over on her blog Reading is my Superpower.

When I was nine years old, I was smacked for calling my little brother a 'twat'.

Happy Reading!

"After his death in 1683, Roger Williams, the founder of the Rhode Island colony, was buried beneath a young apple tree in his garden and lay there until one day in 1936 when the local government decided to exhume his remains and place them in a monument to mark the state's tercentenary."
