Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in-store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! To find out more, visit the official launch page.
I never realized how many books I truly procured on a weekly basis until starting this little adventure with Stacking the Shelves. Oi. No wonder my mom says I need an intervention.

I have already finished No Justice and will be posting the review this weekend. I also just finished The Day Sonny Died, and will be reviewing it shortly as well. I even used it as my contribution to First Line Friday this week.
What goodies did YOU find this week? Leave me a comment and a link to your haul so I can check it out.
Happy Reading!

The Day Sonny Died intrigues me! Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great book, I read it in just a few days. Even though Sonny missed the opportunities that God provided for him, that didn't mean his children had to also. If you read it, I'd love to chat about it.
DeleteI used to love watching all the TV docs about storm chasers. It's a hobby that just fascinates me. Sad that a few from the Storm Chasers series have died now.
ReplyDeleteSame here! In college my best friend was a meteorology major and we loved that stuff; chasing storms is fun but dangerous. Twister (and The Day After Tomorrow) will always be the best weather-related movies for me. In fact, I might just put Twister on right now while I am blogging and researcher and reviewing today. I just recently saw that Joel Taylor died, so sad.
DeleteOnly two this week:
ReplyDeleteOne store bought- Anything you do Say by Gillian McAllister
One ordered from Amazon- Revolting Subjects: Social Abjection and Resistance in Neoliberal Britain by Imogen Tyler.
Look at you with the self-control again. I am already working on my post for the next edition of Stacking the Shelves, as I've just come from the bookstore. Shocker, huh? Happy Saturday!
DeletePart self control, part lack of opportunity (OK, I have access to the Internet and the millions of books I could buy but still....).
DeleteBig book trip planned for about 2 weeks away. My usual haul in previous visits is around 14-16.
Oooh, where are you going for this big book trip??
DeleteOnly locally but there are two 'remainder' book shops I know about that get regular deliveries (by the pallet) of books at very low prices. Even they don't know what's going to turn up next so I try to hit them a few times a year and stock up. Plus I have pizza whilst I'm there for a relaxing end to the day and a lazy look through my purchases.
DeleteThat sounds glorious! I have found some good deals at Half-Price Books (not sure if you have that store in the UK?), and pretty much anything I buy there I sell back when I am done. When my mom and I visited Scotland in 2009 I had not yet really come back to reading a lot for pleasure, as I was in grad school and had no time. I only wish I had bought books then, or more than I bought anyway, because international shipping gets so pricey sometimes! I can't wait to see what you find, and enjoy the pizza!
DeleteAn intervention lol. Don't we all? I saw Educated somewhere else this week, and The Poison Plot looks really good. The stormchaser one too.
ReplyDeleteLol, right? I mean, on one hand I'm 35, but on the other, Mom's not wrong! I'm very interested to read Educated, I have a few other of this type of book, that I think will be really good reads.
DeleteNice haul! I got approved for Educated a few weeks ago. I am really hoping it to be good :)
ReplyDeleteAll of your books look good.
I hope you enjoy your books :)

Thank you, I think I have a lot of great ones here that will prove to be unput-down-able. Happy Saturday!
DeleteWow! Lots of great books, especially the Day Sonny die! I hope you enjoy all your books!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Stacking the Shelves!

The Day Sonny Died was really good, though it was hard going in knowing that this little boy who was growing up before my eyes would meet an end just like his father and grandfather, but this is not a spoiler because it is right there in the title. I highly recommend that one!
DeleteGreat haul this week! The Day Sonny Died sounds really interesting. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMy STS
Sonny is a really good book with a very powerful message of God's love and how He provides the opportunities for us to live our purpose, yet we can accept or reject those chances because of our free will. It was hard going in, watching him grow up, knowing he would not survive his circumstances - it's all right there in the title. Read it if you get the chance!
DeleteFirst Ladies of the Republic sounds interesting :) enjoy!
ReplyDeleteEvelina @ AvalinahsBooks
I am really interested in that one and hope to get to it ASAP. I am currently in the midst of my US President Challenge and I hope to learn more about the First Ladies in the process - maybe as a separate goal in the future. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThe Day Sonny Died looks really interesting. I almost requested The Poison Plot but I don't read a lot of non-fiction. Great haul!
ReplyDeleteSonny was a great book and one I think is really important, especially for anyone who works with children that come from a similar background as he does. It is a great Christian Fiction read that I enjoyed for the overall message of hope, though so many circumstances were tragic, and would not come down on the side of 'too preachy'.
DeleteI love non-fiction, so I was especially excited to find it because I have this kind of weird obsession with Victorian murders by poison (very specific, huh?) But then I saw this one was from an earlier period and involved Mary Arnold, wife of Benedict Arnold, and I knew I had to read it anyway. I hope i can get to it ASAP.
Sounds like a perfect read for you then.
DeleteOh yes, I am quite anxious to read it!
