Top Ten Tuesday!

This is the final Top Ten Tuesday to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish (for now, hopefully not for good). Starting next week it will be hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl (Jana, a contributor to Broke and Bookish).

This week's topic is Ten Books We Meant to Read in 2017 but Didn't Get To (and totalllyyy plan to get to in 2018)

Oh, boy.

I kind of feel like I have been talking about that darn presidential reading goal for the last week, and er'body knows I am bound and determined to get those read, so lets look at something else instead. Here are my picks, in no particular order:

11742238 23248162 2465562 16248031239186 30259182 11137 21926753 31742371 12101738 28999810 6497458

The worst part is, I have every single one of these books sitting on my shelf right now, staring at me - surrounded by heaps of others taunting me with their un-read-ness.

I'd love to hear from you, let me know what you think of these titles and leave a link so I can check out your list too.

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. I like that Aetheflaed has a book about her! Pre-norman history is ignored so thoroughly by American schools, even in college, that Bernard Cornwell had to ignite my interest in the Anglo-Saxon period single handedly.

    1. I am so psyched to get it read - Amberley has THE BEST sales. The Anglo-Saxons are my faves, even more than the Tudors, kind of a tie with the Plantagenets. Can't really go wrong with Alfred the Great or his badass daughter.

    2. I love that they advertise themselves as a "Transport, Military, Local and General History" firm. Most would lead with local or military history, but they put Transport right up front! I will have to look around a bit!

    3. Yeah, Amberley is pretty much one of my most faves. Tons of great reads - and sales! Flat shipping rate of $15 to the US, no matter how many books in the order.

  2. I'm intrigued about the Tudor books! I love that period. :-)

    1. Same here - are you in the UK or the US? I ordered all of the Tudor ones from Amberley Publishing, when they have their big 25% or 30% off sales. They also just had hardcovers 50% off around the holidays. And shipping is a flat $15 t the US, so how can I not? It just makes sense, right? :D

  3. Luther is one I'd like to give a look at, and oddly enough I've never read CS Lewis other than the Narnia books. Should do something about that!

    1. I love reading about Martin Luther, he's one of my faves for sure. I've never read CS Lewis before now - not even the Narnia books. It is slow-going, mostly because CS Lewis is so very intelligent and it makes me feel dumb. But, I find if I read it out loud in a British accent, I feel marginally less dumb because a British accent sounds way more intelligent than an American one, haha.

  4. I was fascinated by the Tudors in high-school, though I must admit I have not read that much non-fiction lately. It`s something I want to remedy in 2018.

    1. Plantagenets and Tudors are some of my favorites - if you ever want non-fiction recommendations, I'd be glad to help!

  5. I know I read Elizabeth Norton's Anne of Cleves book and gave it three stars but I didn't write a review so I've got no notes on how good it was! Nice mixture of books on your list!

    1. I read one of her Anne Boleyn books, and I liked her Jane Seymour one too. I did not realize I had three of her books on this list until I went back and looked at the post once I published it. I like her writing though, so I guess it makes sense!

    1. Thanks! I am super psyched for the Shot All to Hell one because I grew up in a suburb of the Twin Cities, so Northfield was only about 25 minutes away. We used to go to Jesse James Days every year and the bank is still there (at least it was when I was growing up, I would think it still is).

  8. I haven't heard of the majority of these, but I hope you love them when you get to them.

    Happy TTT!
