Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected in the last week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, you get the idea. If nothing else, this weekly treat shows how much of an addiction I really have when it comes to acquiring my precious books.
In-Store Purchases
That's it for this week. Seriously, I am so proud of myself.
Happy Reading!

After my splurge last week I only picked up one this week...
ReplyDeleteWomen & Power - A Manifesto by Mary Beard.
I've added that one to my TBR, you always find such interesting titles.
DeleteThanks. After reading thousands of books I'm always on the look out for something different to nudge me out of any ruts I may have gotten myself into. I also like to spread into new areas and even, from time to time, challenge my beliefs and stuff. Basically trying to keep things fresh... [grin]
DeleteAlthough I am starting to worry about the additional encouragement I'm giving your book buying habit!
I definitely know how that goes. I was in the worst slump by the end of 2016 and could not get myself out of it for a while, but luckily some good ol' random cozy mysteries helped and I was able to get back to work.
DeleteNever fear in the book-buying department! I am (usually) pretty good about only going to Half Price Books for most binges. The religious and Biblical texts I usually purchase when I have saved up some coupons. Then when summer hits, I start loading up on library books, since as a teacher, my daughter and I then have the whole summer off to play and read.
Interesting stuff. Jesus Hates Religion caught my eye, I'd be curious to see what he has to say in that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm really psyched to read it. I think that Christianity has been hijacked by some to use only as a talking-point without the actual follow-through. It will be a little bit before I get to it, but it's at the top of my list to start once I finish all these ARCs I am behind on!
DeleteJesus Hates Religion! What a title.
ReplyDeleteRight?? Caught my eye immediately.
DeleteNice haul! These all are new to me but that Jesus title certainly is eye-catching :) I hope your enjoy all of your new books. Have a lovely weekend!

Thank you, same to you!
DeleteGreat haul! I like the sound of the Women in the Bible book!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Stacking the Shelves!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Thanks Ronyell. I really love reading about different women in the Bible an really getting to know their stories better. After all, we don't often hear from them. Happy Reading!
DeleteSome interesting books this week. Hope you love them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barb, I am looking forward to reading them soon - just have to get these ARCs finished up and then I will be free to read whatever book I want. Happy Reading!
DeleteI was in a reading slump this past week, but finally finished two good books.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog name!
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Ugh, reading slumps are the worst! You know you have so many good books to read but you just can't seem to get motivated.
DeleteI literally spoke the words out loud when I was first setting up my blog a few years ago. Everything funny or witty was taken and I sat at my laptop saying, "UGH! All the book blog names are taken!" and thus, the blog was born.
Thank you for coming by!
That Women of the Bible book sounds really good. I hope you enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
hey AJ, thanks for stopping by. I have been really interested in learning more about the women - after all, we rarely hear from them and in the case of Dinah, we never get a single word from her and only hear from the men around her. She is not included in this text, but her story is covered in a great book called 'Harlot by the Side of the Road' and looks at her story among others.
DeleteI don't generally read much religious content. I guess I only really see it when reading something Tudor related. At the moment I'm not reading non fiction at all and I have a ton of it to get to!
ReplyDeleteI have become more interested in the last couple years as I have found my way back to church and my faith. I enjoy the historical explorations most, but also love reading about the time period in general and looking at sources outside of the Bible that talk about Jesus. Good luck with your reading this week!
DeleteI think this is a great haul!
ReplyDeleteJesus Hates Religion caught my eye too!
It was one of the first ones I picked up in this haul, and I think I am going to find it very interesting. I think Jesus is appalled by some of the things being said and done in His name.
