Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

I was about one chapter in on the library copy when I realized I needed my own so I could highlight, underline, and write in the margins. Fuck the patriarchy, your days are numbered 😘

Back on True Crime I see... The Anarchist Bandits looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteAs predicted nothing from me and nothing expected until after New Years. But at least it'll give me a *slight* breathing space to work on various piles of unread books!!
I recently finished that Crimes of Paris book and so I found a few more books that were each dedicated to those discussed but more briefly in that initial read. Not the worst, but not the best. I really think I just hate France and find it all dreadfully dull, even the crimes! If it's not about Eleanor of Aquitaine, I just can't make myself interested!
DeleteI have a few Paris related books coming up. I think you might find at least *one* of them interesting! [grin] Hope that you're bother super well & had a good Christmas, or at least as good as it gets in the present circumstances.
DeleteOoooh, very intriguing!! I am curious what the book is!
DeleteEleanor and I were able to come home to my mom's house for an extended stay, almost two weeks. We did not have our big gathering as we have in past years with the whole family. We did visit my grandparents yesterday and everyone wore masks, and stayed as far apart as possible. We kept it short, didn't have a meal, and got to chat for a while. They really needed to see Eleanor, I think it helped with their spirits a lot. Hope you had a lovely Christmas as well, even though I know it was different for you also.
No home visit for me this year. Mum has had her first vaccine shot though which is good news. I did chat with family over Christmas and exchanged a few e-mails with my sister. We'll make up for it next year. Good to hear that you and Eleanor are doing well. Well Done for being so Covid conscious with your family too! If only more people were THAT sensible.
DeleteThat's great for her! Will be praying for her that there are no side effects and that you all stay healthy.
DeleteI will be getting mine - likely in February but hopefully sooner. My school district is making it available, the Moderna shot. It is not mandatory, but I can't imagine not getting it. All these tin-foil hats are screaming about micro-chips in the vaccines so the government can track us? These morons seem to forget that that's already happening with smartphones, so...
I was really nervous about even coming to my mom's house, not wanting to bring anything home to her or my uncle who lives with her. All seems to be well and if we do get to visit my grandparents again, we will definitely keep wearing masks and social-distancing.
Zero for me this week.
ReplyDeleteLucky!!!
Deletehahaha yes, I have bought my own copy of some books like that as well!! Happy reading and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHere's my STS post
Thank you so much, and thanks for coming by! Happy Reading :)

ReplyDeleteSome PAris stuff this week...
Fuck yeah! Altahawy's book is A-MAY-ZING. I can't get enough and keep going back and re-reading certain passages. I follow her on Twitter as well and I am so inspired by her.
DeleteI recently finished about a bout the Crimes of Paris, mainly in the Belle Epoque. The books I snagged this week were dedicated solely to a couple of the various crimes discussed in that initial book. Decent, but not great.
Quite the haul this week. I always get books for Christmas, so my TBR list grew exponentially this week.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely an unexpected haul, as Eleanor and I came home to MN for the long holiday. Most were decent, not great but good enough to pass a couple hours. As for Altahawy's book, it is fucking phenomenal and I am recommending it to EVERYONE, female or male.
DeleteOh I like the look and title for Seven Necessary sins for Women and Girls. Will have to take a look!
ReplyDeleteGreat haul, hope you get to spend your week reading!
Elza Reads
It is a MUST-READ! I loved it so much and continue returning to passages. I am thinking of starting weekly post about it, quotes that I think are particularly powerful (the whole book is, pretty much). I highly recommend it, and keep a highlighter and pen close by. I follow Altahawy on Twitter also, she is the voice we need!
DeleteNice haul! I hope you enjoy your books. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, you as well!
