I am now entering year three of Tackling the TBR. Slowly but surely I have made big strides in getting by TBR under control. When I first started in 2019, my TBR was topping out at over 5,000 books. I don't know that I will ever get below 500, but a #BookDragon can dream!
I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!
+++++++++++++++
Announcement: I have added a linky to this post and will do so for future Tackling the TBRs as well. A few people expressed interest in this in one of my 'goals' posts so I thought this would be an easy way for us to all connect. I post weekly, but feel free to do whatever works for you - weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, whatever!
The link will be open the entire week.

So, you shouldn't worry of not having made the TTT this week because here is your "spring cleaning" all done.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling a lot better than on the weekend.
Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.
That's true, good way to think about it. I am feeling so much better than that awful 28 hours, but if I had it to do over again, I would still get vaccinated. I plan to get a lot of blog stuff done today and tomorrow while Eleanor has to be at her dad's so hopefully more 'spring cleaning' is on the way!
DeleteI definitely want a vaccination, as well. No matter how many people tell me they have side effects. I heard that younger and healthier people have heavier reactions, so it's a good sign. Not that I'd want it like that but you know what I mean.
DeleteAnyway, glad you are over it.
For sure, I know what you mean. My friends have had similar reactions to mine, but our parents and grandparents seem to be doing okay. I am fine with that, I would not want my grandparents or mom feeling like that! Plus, I'll take side effects of a vaccine vs. Covid and the unknowns any day.
DeleteThat's very sensible. To want to protect your parents and grandparents and to say you rather have the side effects than Covid. My son said everything is preferable to the side effect of Covid: Death. I couldn't agree more.
DeleteYES! And even for many who survive Covid, the long-lasting effects are mounting as well. I was cautious about the vaccine at first, since of course long-term effects are not able to be studied yet, but it was certainly preferable to whatever Covid might throw out at us.
DeleteI know but I trust those scientists who say the vaccine isn't entirely new and is based on what they've been using against the flu for ages. I believe it's better to trust them than those nay-sayers who call themselves "Querdenker" in German which translates more or less into "crosswise thinkers". Someone said that's their name because they only think alongside the boad they have in front of their head (which is an expression for having a blackout, not thinking very far). I think they got that right.
DeleteI LOVE that word! I am totally going to start using Querdenker for people here who are acting the same way! Unfortunately we have a lot of them...
DeleteWe have a lot of funny words in German because we can just build new ones by putting two (or more) together. You'll notice that yourself soon.
DeleteAnd, unfortunately, we have a lot of Querdenker, as well. You wouldn't believe it in this day and age but there we are.
Oh yes, that is one of my fondest memories of German class...how ridiculously long words can get because you just keep putting smaller words together! There is also a meme that I love that says, "Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing." It is such a fun language.
DeleteI've seen that. And many other memes about the German language, like we can't play scrabble or the one with the ambulance and Krankenwagen etc. Always funny. And those jokes about our language are so much better than those about us still being Nazis.
DeleteI have not seen the one about the ambulance and Krankenwagen, I am going to look for it now! I never considered how difficult Scrabble might be in German, lol. I wish people would stick to calling ACTUAL Nazis, Nazis. Like, we have actual neo-Nazis here in the US RIGHT NOW, but that's apparently okay? Eff that. Blech.
DeleteIf you don't find the meme, here is a link. It's quite funny because you can pronounce other words quite angrily, as well. Krankenwagen just means car for sick people.
DeleteAnd no, Scrabble is not difficult in German, we can build long words but we also have short ones, so if we put a couple of words together that form a new one, we get many, many points.
And you are right, one should call actual Nazis Nazis. But there are a lot of people who still think they are free to call any Germans that. 😞
That's hilarious. I'll see if I can find the video of people saying various words in English, French, Spanish, and German. It's hilarious because no matter how lovely or common or kind the word, German always sounds angry. Of course, they also went a bit over the top with it, but still funny.
DeleteI just meant that with Scrabble you would have some trouble with fitting the long words on the board!
I can't imagine dealing with that, I'm sorry.
Agree, those memes on the German language are often extremely funny.
DeleteAnd for Scrabble: we don't just have long words, they just seem so long because they are compounds, two or more words put together. For example, the word for the entrance door of the house is Haustür (house-door). Now, we can use the word Haus or the Word Tür or the word Haustür, so we have more choices. And I'm sure you'll learn it.
I know, I was mostly joking :) I remember quite a bit of the vocabulary and nouns, but can't read it nearly as well as I did in high school. I was always better at reading it than speaking/writing it myself. I am excited to get back into relearning German again.
DeleteLearning together with a child is always great. Re-learning together with a child is definitely easier. I learned so much about English when I had to "start" with my children.
DeleteThat's what I am hoping for!
DeleteIt works. Believe me. Good luck.
DeleteThank you! I am excited to get started.
