Stacking the Shelves #146

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

Happy Reading!

  1. Only 1? Cool. [looks impressed]

Despite cutting down I seem to have acquired a few more than usual this week. Mostly fiction though so nothing to concern you!

    Fiction:

    Battlemage by Stephen Aryan
The Whole Truth by Cara Hunter
    Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz
A Bespoke Murder by Edward Marston
City of Spies by Mara Timon

    Non-Fiction:

Last of the Empires - A History of the Soviet Union 1945-1991 by John Keep
The Regency Revolution - Jane Austen, Napoleon, Lord Byron and the Making of the Modern World by Robert Morrison
The Whites of their Eyes - The Tea Party's Revolution and the Battle over American History by Jill Lepore

    1. I know, right?! Sadly, I already DNF-ed it at 15% because the narrator was insufferable. All safe so far with your choices this week - I don't think I can read any more books about the Tea Party until they're gone. Blech.

    2. The 'Tea Party' thing is all part of me trying to understand your fucked up country.... [grin] We (or rather you guys) are certainly living in Interesting Times right now, but at least Covid is starting to recede at speed..

    3. Basically it started with just a bunch of dumbasses who were set on opposing Obama no matter what he did or tried to do. Somehow they thought this was patriotic? They failed to connect what they were doing with those who dumped all the British tea in the harbor, because they're stupid and I am OVER IT.

The CDC has now said people can stop wearing masks, which is frightening as all fuck. I am vaccinated but Eleanor is not and we will continue to wear masks and take precautions because there are enough morons around here that refuse to vaccinate and still think this shit is a hoax.

    1. Right?!?! These last couple weeks of school have been crazy and we have 8 student days left, 10 total days for teachers. I've hardly read or looked for new ones at all...and I DNF-ed this one last night at 15% because the narrator was insufferable!

I'm glad too, it was awful! Once I saw it was widespread I calmed down a little, but I was still worried we would all lose our blogs.

  3. Your restraint this week is amazing! I, unfortunately, had no such restrain haha.

    1. And your lack of restraint is half the problem because I am always finding books I would not otherwise, because of YOU, haha. This one I ended up DNF-ing at 15% because I could not stand the narrator.
