Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

You have to tell me what you thought of The Blue!
ReplyDeleteI'm torn. The plot had me sometimes, and others I was SO bored and it dragged. I will get to the review in the next couple weeks, I hope.
Deletei got the "new" translation of Orland Furioso by Guido Waldman in the mail... in prose instead of verse. he says it's too awkward to put in English octameters... not sure i agree with that...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't think I would be okay with that either - that's not a translators decision to make, I feel.
DeleteI'm guessing that 'Viking Wars' is the US title for the Vikings book I bought recently. Interesting collection of OJ books. But I guess 'tis the season to go heavy on OJ... [grin]
ReplyDeleteJust 3 for me, including the late arrival from last week. These are highly likely to be the last purchases of the year. All non-fiction:
Mercia - The Rise and Fall of a Kingdom by Annie Whitehead
Tail-End Charlies - The Last Battles of the Bomber War 1944-45 by John Nicol & Tony Rennell
Ruin and Renewal - Civilising Europe After the Second World War by Paul Betts
I thought it would be too, but it is actually a different one he's written about the period. The UK title of mine is Ælfred’s Britain: War and Peace in the Viking Age. And the cover is also way prettier on the UK one.
DeleteI love Whitehead's non-fiction. I read Mercia a while back and really loved it.
Does it count if I bought myself an early christmas present? Asking for a friend of course haha
ReplyDeleteThat ALWAYS counts, lol
Deletelook at all the pretties. and ethan, yes it counts if you bought yourself a present. haha

The Dot Hutchison series is gorgeous...though they are all that blackish color except the second one, which is blue. So random!
DeleteYour shelves must be groaning under all those books you've stacked on them!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I have to stack them on the floor, lol!
