I am now in year FOUR of Tackling the TBR. Slowly but surely I have made big strides in getting my TBR under control. When I first started in 2019, that list was topping out at over 5,000 books. I don't know that I will ever get below 500, but a #BookDragon can dream!
I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!

Interesting that you DNF'd 'The Debatable Land'. What was wrong with it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure. Sometimes I really like books that are part history, part personal experience, but this one just was not working for me. I was so interested in the historical parts but did not care at all about the author's experiences and such. Maybe I will go back to it later. Have you finished it?
DeleteHaven't started it yet. His book on Paris was history plus him and a friend cycling around the city at various times. I know what you mean about a book being one thing or another (and I REALLY hate an author of a non-fiction book inserting themselves into the narrative unless it's done REALLY well). I do sometimes find myself thinking: Pick a LANE!
DeleteThat's what really did it for me here. I want the history before anything else with books like this. My issue is with the author making himself too much part of the story as well. I don't like it.
DeleteI see you also went through a bit of a Titanic craze this week! I always do this time of the year. And now I have a few more books to add to my Titanic list. Have you read Kaspar, Prince of cats? I think you and Eleanor would like that book on the only cat to survive the Titanic. Have a look at it! (Review is on my blog if you want to read it!)
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying a good weekend!

There always seem to be good books coming out about Titanic, year after year, so we will never be at a loss for what to read in April! We've not read Kaspar, but I will look for it. I did not even know there were cats aboard, since we always hear about the dogs who survived, or didn't.
DeleteWow! You really got rid of a lot this time! That's great!
ReplyDeleteMost were intentional but some were by accident. I was using the app on my phone and I sort the books randomly at times to go through and remove those I am no longer interested in. Well, silly me sorted by number of pages, and saw that some books had very miniscule numbers for pages so I deleted them, only to realize when I came to a book that was clearly more substantial than 34 pages, that I had made a mistake. Luckily it was only a handful, so I am hoping that those books find their way back to me in the future!
