Eleanor Reads! December Edition

Each month Eleanor and I share the chapter books we read. We've been reading chapter books since before Kindergarten and her attention span as a four year old was definitely something to brag about. Eleanor was born a reader and that makes my heart so, so happy.

    1. It's such a funny series! One of my most favorites as a kid - wouldn't take you very long at all to read them. There's Bunnicula, Howliday Inn, The Celery Stalks at Midnight, Nighty Nightmare, Return to the Howliday Inn. There are two more after that but I have not read them. It's so fun and I am so glad Eleanor loves this series now too.

  2. Hahaha! You cannot imagine where she got that from. Too funny. The apple doesn't fall far from the pear tree. ;)
But yeah, interesting books. She's a great reader in the making. We'll definitely see her blogging one day.

    1. She also calls herself a 'mood reader', so she is listening to me sometimes, at least, lol. She did a couple videos reading books, and did some reviews for books we read together, on Goodreads. I definitely think she will be a blogger someday.

    2. They learn more from watching us than from listening.

    3. That's mostly true, though she listens when she wants and I both fear and am so fucking proud that she is inheriting my mouth.

She's also asked to sometimes do reviews again, so that is something we will have later in the year!

    4. Most kids only listen when your words are also accompanied by actions, so if you do the opposite of what you preach them, they'll ignore that. I always explained to my kids that they have to trust that we know better, even if they don't understand at the time, but we always set an example. Otherwise, they would not have taken on any advice.

And doing reviews certainly will help her in school, though I'm sure she's brilliant there, already.

    5. School is going really well, she keeps telling me she is bored though...that's a recipe for trouble!

    6. She is lucky to have you who can keep her occupied. We always did extra-curricular stuff with the boys like visiting activities for smart kids, going to museums, art exhibitions, etc.

    7. Yep! We have an absolutely stunning art museum here but it's closed due to renovations. But we have lots of other places to occupy our time!

    8. At least you are able to look forward to it opening again and, as you say, once you have found one place, you often find others, as well. Enjoy.

    9. It's such a fantastic place. They have a great area called ArtWorks, which is just for kids. They have tons of interactive stations for kids to explore.

    10. Reminds me of a gallery we used to visit in London who had special days for kids where they included more or less any activity to go with their pictures.

    11. it's really cool. There's a place for drawing still lifes, mirrors and markers for self portraits or glass to look through to draw the person across from you, an animation station, touch screen painting, etc. So, so cool

    12. That sounds like the gallery. Those kind of places are around a lot, you just need to find them. Glad you did.

    13. No idea why this was posted anonymously. It was me, Marianne.

    14. I know. Funnily enough, this was the first of several posts on your page and it only did it here. So weird.

    15. Mine blogger is also still doing the weird thing where comments will show as normal, and then retroactively be marked as sam and tossed in that folder. I am OVER it.

    16. Yup. we all have that problem and are all upset about it. There are some blogs where I can only answer via Google Chrome. And they are NOT Blogger.

    17. That's super weird. I have not had an issues with browsers, but I only use Chrome so maybe that's why. I have not had problems with any blogs except Blogger.

    18. I have tried to only use Chrome and then I had trouble with some others. Can't win.

    19. Tell me about it. They do that just to punish us. Look, we're so smart and you're so dumb.

    20. Would not be surprised. And they're laughing at our comments complaining about it.

    21. Probably. Shouldn't they listen to their "elders"? ;)
