Stacking the Shelves #249

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

  1. Interesting that you end your post with Happy Reading and yet your books all seem so grim! :) And that's why reading is so great - there's something for everyone's interest. Hope you enjoy every one!
    Have a terrific week!

    1. I've never thought about it like that! Is it weird that I enjoy what I read, even when it is sad/grim/depressing stuff? I guess I enjoy the way the stories are told, without enjoying the content itself?

    1. HOORAY! I have too many books of my own that I have added to my TBR, without you adding to the mix this week! lol

  4. I haven't had much time to read what I've gotten from the library, so my library stacks have gotten smaller, LOL. Have a great week!

    1. We were gone in MN for the week so my library haul ballooned while we were out of town because a bunch came in at once

    1. 'Nocturnal Brain' is VERY good - especially if you have or know someone who has sleep related problems.

    2. Nocturnal Brain was really interesting. I recommend it, even if you don't have sleep issues yourself. But it is especially interesting if you do.

As for Phantom Plague, I DNF-ed on page 25 when the author stated that Jane Seymour died after giving birth to Princess Elizabeth. That's such a glaring mistake that should not have gotten past any editor - especially when the author cited a website that mentioned Jane giving birth to Edward VI, and NEVER even touches on Elizabeth once. Shame too, because it was really interesting to start - went right in on Mercy Brown.

    3. Oh, I would've DNF'd it at that point too! I mean.... DUH! Basic stuff people!!!

    4. SO BASIC. I was so mad I almost threw the book. How does this get by an editor? Especially because the author specifically cited the webpage where she supposedly got the info, and it was immediately following the sentence about her dying after "giving birth to Elizabeth". Absolute garbage.
