Books From The Backlog #62

Books from the Backlog, hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books, is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your shelf unread.

I am featuring books in the order that they were added to my Goodreads To-Read shelf, so sometimes there will be a couple weeks in a row of books on the same topic.

Neglected Book of the Week

Why did I add Eleanor the Secret Queen to my TBR?

Because I love messy families and this branch of the Plantagenets is suuuuuuuper messy.

Have you read this book, or is it somewhere on your TBR? If you've read it, would you recommend it to others?

Would You Rather... | #23

I began posting this back in 2018 and thought I would bring it back, given that my motivation to blog has returned with force. You might recognize some from prior use, but I am changing up which ones are paired together to give a variety of choices.

There's no real criteria or guidelines. Choose the nook you would love most if given a choice, justify it however you'd like.

Monday Meme #29

I am reviving this little feature after eight years. You might see a couple recycled from when I did this in 2016, but they were funny then and they are still funny now. Occasionally they will be more introspective or comforting. No matter what, they will be about reading and books.

This is why I am so selective about what kinds of fiction I read. I am trying to avoid this kind of let-down.

Stacking the Shelves #277

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc

Mostly Recovered!

I am so happy to finally report I am feeling MUCH better. In all fairness, it was a four-day week. The only incision still bothering me is the big one, where the gallbladder came out. Still taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol, but I do not feel like I have to stay on the couch and rest. I am still on restrictions next week at work - no pushing, pulling, or lifting 20+ pounds, but at my post-op follow-up on Monday, everything was looking great.

As a result, I am FINALLY getting around to comments and visiting everyone again. I have missed this!

First Line Friday #169

First Line Friday is a weekly feature and simple to do - grab the book nearest you and post the first line. Carrie hosts this over on her blog Reading is my Superpower.

On the evening of June 7, 1898, Mrs. Frank Leslie had every reason to rest on her laurels.

Recovering, Sort Of

Just another little update about the whole gallbladder thing. Everything that has been posted since last week was already queued up prior, and I will make sure to respond to all the comments and visit everyone who has come around while I've been resting.

Ideally I would have been able to stay home for three full weeks to recover. Unfortunately I do not have enough sick days, which means I went back to work this last Monday - eight days after surgery. Gross, right? But hey, that's 'Murica for you. I ended up staying home both Tuesday and today because of pain. Luckily I have my follow-up on Monday.

That's all for now. Enjoy the weekend, I hope you get lots of reading time in!
