Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc. Never has my addiction been more obvious than when I am now keeping track of every single book I acquire.

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for this one. The hold list was ginormous but it is finally MINE ALL MINE!
(Edit: I finished it Friday, the same day I picked it up from the library.)

What did you add to your stash this week?
Happy Reading!

Wow, lots of interesting stuff! And drawn as I am to lost cities and all of that other nonsense :) I naturally am interested in that trio of half price books! Although Enlightening the World looks good too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Atlantis will ever cease to be interesting to me. Unfortunately I started the one about the Statue of Liberty and DNF-ed it pretty quickly. Just kind of dull, but maybe you'll like it better!
DeleteAtlantis is the bomb! Although it seemed so much more plausible as a kid ha ha!! Same with yetis and Shangri-La and all that... what can I say, my imagination was very active!
DeleteYES!! I know it is there somewhere...at least, I knew it was somewhere beneath the water when I was younger. Now? Hmm.
DeleteA reasonable 4 this week:
ReplyDeletePrimitive Rebels by Eric Hobsbawm
Avenging Angels - Soviet Women Snipers on the Eastern Front (1941-45) by Lyuba Vinogradova
The Fear and the Freedom - Why the Second World War Still Matters by Keith Lowe
Bomber Command - The Strategic Bombing Offensive: 1939-45 by Max Hastings [This was 75% off!!!]
Four is pretty good - I think this coming week I will have very few. VBS has started and there's not really time for book collecting!
DeleteI’m on a waitlist for I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, too. The list is so long! I’ll probably end up buying the book first. I hope you enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I read it in a matter of hours! I did not know anything about this guy until I started hearing about Michelle and her book. There were some pretty negative reviews by people saying it was not new material and just a re-hash of things already known. I am not a big true crime person, so I really liked it because it was all new to me. If it is all new to you also, I would not caution against buying. However, if you do already know a lot, then you might be better off waiting for the library copy. I really liked it and thought it was a great read.
DeleteWhen are you possibly going to read these, Sarah :D there are so many! But I am loving the lineup :) especially the Harlem ones. Interesting topic.
ReplyDeleteEvelina @ AvalinahsBooks
I love anything with the five boroughs, I am utterly obsessed with a city I have never been to. They've been added to my 'to-read bookcase' which has rapidly spilled over on to the floor, haha
DeleteLooks like you had a good book week!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it was a very good one!!
DeleteI'm intrigued by the title of "Enlightening the World". No book purchases for me this week, just a couple of games on Steam during a sale.
ReplyDeleteThe subtitle is: The Creation of the Statue of Liberty.
DeleteGames? Which ones? I'm intrigued by 'Frostpunk' but am playing 2 games already NO spare time!!
I bought "DEUS EX" and "TRON 2.0". Older games, but ones I was curious about. They were $2.5 each this past weekend. I explored them both a little -- TRON 2.0 definitely takes getting used to! I also bought a game from England -- Starfleet Command III. Paid $30 all told despite its being fifteen years old at this point. There are a bunch of Star Trek games that are CRAZY expensive in the US because of licensing issues, but I've discovered I can order PAL discs from the UK and they work just fine. I did that to get Elite Force 2 a few years ago.
DeleteWow, none?! That is amazing, and what I strive for every week. I always fail. I already DNF-ed the Enlightening one, is was kind of dull. But you might find it more interesting.
DeleteDid I mentioned Suarez's "Daemon" last week? It did arrive earlier in the week. It's a computer/AI/tech thriller kind of novel.
DeleteMy brain is so zapped already from VBS that I don't even remember!
DeleteFascinating looking selection here. I love how you find such interesting nonfiction books :-)
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you - I try! :)
